We editors at Twitchy write our own headlines. That's not the case at most major newspapers. Most have dedicated headline writers. Most of them suck at their jobs. Here's an example.

The Times headline: "Two N.Y.P.D. Officers Shot Overnight in Queens." The Post headline: "Gunman who shot 2 NYPD cops revealed to be migrant who recently crossed into US: sources." The Times' summary reads, "Two officers were trying to pull over a man they said was riding a motorbike the wrong way down a one-way street. Both officers and the suspect are expected to survive, police officials said." The Post's: "Two cops were shot in Queens early Monday, allegedly by a 19-year-old Venezuelan migrant they tried to stop on a motorized scooter, police and sources said."
Bernardo Raul Castro-Mata never should have been in this country. He is only here because Joe Biden hoped he would vote someday. These are the people Joe Biden is giving amnesty to. This is the price Biden forces America to pay.https://t.co/eWlRhnkzoS

PIX 11 reports:
The man accused of shooting two police officers in Queens early Monday is a migrant who entered the U.S. illegally last year, according to the NYPD.
Police identified the suspect as 19-year-old Bernardo Raul Castro-Mata, originally from Venezuela. Castro-Mata allegedly drove a scooter the wrong way down a one-way street in East Elmhurst when the officers tried to pull him over, according to the NYPD.
…
Castro-Mata crossed into the U.S. at Eagle Pass, Texas, last July, according to NYPD Det. Joseph Kenny. He is currently staying at a migrant shelter located at 90-10 Ditmars Blvd. in East Elmhurst.
Castro-Mata has no prior arrests in New York City, but he is suspected in several robberies involving motorized scooters, Kenny said. Police believe Castro-Mata did not operate alone, and is part of a crew using scooters to commit crimes, according to the NYPD.
He's from Venezuela, just like the guy who killed Laken Riley.
We wonder how far down in the New York Times story you have to read to find out the shooter was an illegal immigrant.
You might have seen my VIP post over the weekend about a mass stabbing in Germany. The suspect was identified as a 25-year-old Afghan migrant. Six people were wounded, and now I'm hearing the police officer who was stabbed has died.
The Washington Post did cover the story: "Anti-Islam activist among six wounded in stabbing in Germany."
All that headline space, and this what they came up with to highlight.

Incredible. pic.twitter.com/hjx96AcNfq
Sky News: "Police officer stabbed during attack at far-right rally dies." LBC: "Police officer, 29, dies after being repeatedly stabbed in an attack at anti-Islam rally in Germany."
So the big story is that there was a far-right event in Mannheim, Germany, to “educate about political Islam.” And it just happens that a Muslim immigrant went on a stabbing spree and killed a police officer. "He stabbed the police officer several times in the head," police said. Maybe the "far-right" was having an "anti-Islam rally" because Muslim immigrants seem to be so stabby.
"German Interior Minister Nancy Faeser wrote on X, 'If the investigation reveals an Islamist motive, then that would be further confirmation of the great danger posed by Islamist acts of violence that we have warned about,' reports the Post.
Maybe allowing in massive numbers of immigrants from Muslim countries who have no intention of assimilating wasn't such a great idea. Back in 2018, we reported that Chancellor Angela Merkel faced a two-week deadline to come up with a plan to address the country’s migrant crisis. Some on the "far-right" wanted to close the country’s southern border to migrants and pressure Merkel to do so.
Man if only there were people to warn that this would happen https://t.co/JhM9rLdNpT

I'm guessing the investigation will reveal an Islamist motive. But Europe is moving ahead on legislation that would criminalize language criticizing migrants, who would become a protected class. Scotland's new hate speech law took effect on April 1 under which police would prosecute people citizens "who make fun of or misgender trans people, make racial jokes or criticisms of certain religions, or criticize migrants."
President Joe Biden, who apologized for calling "Lincoln" Riley's killer an "illegal," said "I'm not gonna treat any of these people with disrespect. They built this country." And then he called Japan xenophobic for not importing more immigrants.
