It's weird seeing the Claudine Gay debacle as partisan. She was a fraud who stole her ideas from other academics, something that would get any undergrad expelled. You'd think that Democrats would see a problem with the president of Harvard being a serial plagiarist, but apparently, they were cool with it. She didn't plagiarize, she was just "sloppy" with her citations.
But they had to protect her against claims that she was a diversity hire. As we reported earlier, Marc Lamont Hill insisted that the next president of Harvard MUST be a black woman. I don't know why. I know progressives would have a fit if they hired a white man. Gay even said in her resignation letter that she was frightened by the threats "fueled by racial animus."
All of the usual suspects — Hill, Nikole Hannah Jones, Ibram X. Kendi — have come out in defense of a serial plagiarist.
Racist mobs won’t stop until they topple all Black people from positions of power and influence who are not reinforcing the structure of racism. What these racist mobs are doing should be obvious to any reporter who cares about truth or justice as opposed to conflicts and clicks. https://t.co/HrRKzprnnv

Yeah, it was racist mobs. She was also enabled by the Harvard Corporation:
Harvard governing board which tried to avoid resignation: "We do so with sorrow. While President Gay has acknowledged missteps and has taken responsibility for them, it is also true that she has shown remarkable resilience in the face of deeply personal and sustained attacks."

"Deeply personal and sustained attacks." The only reason the "attacks" were able to be "sustained" is because she committed almost 50 instances of academic theft.

Politico decided to be the outlet to take the "Republicans pounce" angle:
Republicans claim victory for Harvard president's resignation https://t.co/uGLveRKhwf
— POLITICO (@politico) January 2, 2024
Why did it have to fall to “republicans” to find out that the President of Harvard had a bad plagiarism problem, Politico? Let me know if you figure out the answer to that question.

This headline is pure propaganda. This story had almost nothing to do with Republicans.
— DuluthDoublethink (@weareallboxer) January 2, 2024
A fair headline would be: “Harvard President Resigns Amid Serial Plagiarism Scandal.”
Did Republicans trick her into plagiarism?
— CindyHoedel (@CindyHoedel) January 2, 2024
Pointing out why Gay was or should have been fired is a far cry from “claiming victory.”
— DANGER: DISINFORMATION (@RetiredCrimeDog) January 2, 2024
Because of her comments, she was in no position to bring anyone together to resolve conflict
The rest is a byproduct of society. Better have your house in order if you buck the system
Is "claim victory" the same as "pounce", "seize" or "just pointing out reality"?
— Usually Right (@normouspenis) January 2, 2024
Yep, that's definitely the headline here.

It's very telling that you're more concerned with giving the Right a scalp than you are with promoting justice and integrity in our society.

Are you saying Republicans are the only ones who recognize antisemitism and plagiarism? Because it sure sounds like that’s what you’re saying.
— colonialist settler sympathizer 🇺🇸🇮🇱🇺🇦 (@SameOldNancy) January 2, 2024
Well it certainly wasn't the Democrats, self-reflection or a commitment to truth in education.
— BlahBlahBlah (@LovesDogsandUSA) January 2, 2024
Was there no one else more qualified for the position? Are Republicans celebrating removing a powerful black woman from power? That seems to be the narrative on the Left.
