I've been in the news business long enough to know that "critics say" immediately precedes what the author of the piece believes. The writer's job then is to find someone with the same mindset and collect some quotes, attributing them to "experts."
I also called it when I said that the Left would try to make "parental rights" a dirty word. If Democrats want to come out against parental rights, so be it; in their minds, it's the public schools that should be raising your kids to be good citizens. Do a Google search for "parental rights movement" and you'll see that it's been branded as extremist. Schools hiding the fact that they're transitioning your child in secret is a good thing … as California State Sen. Scott Wiener claimed, rules that a school must notify the parents that their child is transgender could get them killed. Parents are the enemy.
As we've reported, the parental rights group Moms for Liberty proudly proclaims that they do not co-parent with the government. The SPLC has labeled them an extremist group with ties to white supremacy, and several senators urged a museum not to host their summit because they're a hate group.
Here's the AP reporting on those "mama bears" who upended the Virginia gubernatorial election.

They have run school board candidates who support their stances.
Books with LGBTQ content, like graphic illustrations of oral sex. Burnett didn't mention that.

Just as the media did with "Don't Say Gay," they've unapologetically adopted the language of the Left — note how "parental rights" was in scare quotes.
Joe Biden was complaining today about "banning" books, so we have to assume he wants middle school libraries to stock "Gender Queer" and "This Book Is Gay." Why is he never made to explain why he wants sexually explicit materials in schools?
