This is unfortunate because it’s just become fodder for the online fight between Team Trump and Team DeSantis. There’s no denying that former President Donald Trump deserves huge respect for appointing Supreme Court justices that made the Dobbs decision overturning Roe v. Wade possible. Overturning Roe v. Wade has been a conservative crusade for 50 years and it finally came true. The sad fact is, though, that Republicans don’t know how to win. Most Republicans, that is.
It’s no secret that Trump has been attacking DeSantis from the Left, even praising Charlie Christ’s time as governor of Florida. Now Trump is saying that Florida’s ban on abortion after six weeks is too harsh.

Fox News reports:
Former President Trump attacked Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis for his abortion stance on Monday, suggesting in an interview that Florida’s six-week restriction was “too harsh.”
Trump made the statement in a wide-ranging interview with The Messenger published on Monday. Trump refused to elaborate on his own stance regarding abortion, however, instead claiming to have heard that pro-life voters opposed DeSantis’ bill.
“He has to do what he has to do,” Trump said when asked about Florida’s abortion rules. “If you look at what DeSantis did, a lot of people don’t even know if he knew what he was doing. But he signed six weeks, and many people within the pro-life movement feel that that was too harsh.”
When asked about whether he would support restrictions on abortions after six weeks of pregnancy, Trump replied, “I’m looking at all options.”
Many people in the pro-life movement thought six weeks was too harsh? How many is “many”?
Trump is embarrassing himself by abandoning pro-life voters and the children we are fighting for. Florida and Gov DeSantis should be applauded for protecting life. If President Trump is done with fighting for life, pro-life voters should be done with him. https://t.co/u0gaFsrQjS

We would like some specifics from Trump on what’s acceptable. Fifteen weeks?
The funny part is that Team Trump’s Alex Bruesewitz got busy and deleted a bunch of tweets. “Sadly, under DeSantis’ leadership, Florida has become the abortion destination state of the south. Hopefully he does something about this. Protect life!” reads one.
Absolutely incredible.
Alex is deleting his tweets attacking DeSantis on abortion now that his paymaster has moderated on the issue.
There's being shameless, and then there's this. pic.twitter.com/FX3tHrxDO2

If you want to see how Trump embarrasses his surrogates, here is a perfect example.
Alex spent months attacking DeSantis for not doing enough on abortion. Now Trump says DeSantis did too much so Alex has to delete all his tweets. 😂😂😂 pic.twitter.com/bO2I5cLgua

Just brutal.

It’s amazing how desperately they want Trump to run on DeSantis’ record and policies. But they can’t, so they either memory-hole his record and claim DeSantis’ was actually his, or they disavow their own principles out of blind loyalty. It’d be funny if it wasn’t so pathetic.

That is actually mortifying, but even worse, it really illustrates the hypocrisy of some of these operatives. It’s really sleazy to act like you hold certain very key positions then just flip them on a dime, or just erase them, like that

This is the exact reason why Trump has lost so much support. We spent so much energy defending him just to have him pull one of these moves and make us look stupid.

He’s truly the most pathetic creature in the entire ecosystem. I mean fake that your faking it, at least!

WTH, I love abortion now!

That Trump is hitting DeSantis from the left on virtually every issue is a deal breaker for me. I don't need him to take a purity test or be "principles" above all else, but I would like some idea of the policies he's going to enact if I vote for him. Lib or con, which is it.

Hey bozo…
Too far right loses in the general. I think you might want to moderate a bit. Like Trump. Let him show you how it’s done.
Only if you want to win the general that is. We know abortion is a very hot issue.

What do you think? Is Trump reading the electorate correctly and saying the majority would like the Republican Party to moderate on abortion? Or will this cost him support? It will be tough for Trump to win over Democrats just by moderating on abortion.
