Guess who? 'Specialist in Russian disinformation' sues Fox News for promoting lies about her

We find this tweet utterly hilarious, and the lawsuit’s worth a laugh as well. The New York Times has reported that “a specialist in Russian disinformation” is suing Fox News for generating threats to her safety and harming her career prospects. You have to read until the second paragraph of the linked story before they name her: Nina Jankowicz, chair of the short-lived Disinformation Governance Board and self-proclaimed “Mary Poppins of Disinformation.”

If Jankowicz were serious, she’d sue everybody, because we all “promoted lies about her” — and by that, we mean, dug up old tweets of hers.

Jim Rutenberg and Steven Lee Myers write:

Ms. Jankowicz, a prominent specialist in Russian disinformation and online harassment, became the primary subject of their attacks. In 300 mentions over eight months on Fox last year, she was repeatedly demeaned and defamed in highly personal language, the lawsuit asserts. Hosts including Tucker Carlson, Maria Bartiromo and Sean Hannity said her job was “to silence anyone who criticizes the Biden administration” and possibly even, as Mr. Carlson warned, “get men with guns to tell you to shut up.”

After Ms. Jankowicz resigned to escape the deluge of criticism — which had caused an abrupt suspension of the board’s activities — Fox hosts and guests falsely said she was fired, according to the suit.

“Even after achieving their stated goal of driving me out of government and ending the board, they kept using me as a punching bag,” Ms. Jankowicz said in an interview on Wednesday. “It shouldn’t be something we just accept — that the most powerful cable network in the world can attack individuals willy-nilly and not face any consequences after they ruin their lives.”

“A prominent specialist in Russian disinformation” who called the Hunter Biden laptop story a “fairy tale”; look, it’s still up:

She also retweeted a tweet claiming Justice Clarence Thomas argued that COVID vaccines are derived from the cells of aborted children — also fake news that was retracted.

Good like with that lawsuit, Mary Poppins.

She ruined her career prospects by joining the Disinformation Governance Board — nobody wanted a Minister of Truth in the U.S. She could probably get a gig at Snopes or PolitiFact.
