The investigative reporters at the Miami Herald must have made extensive revisions to their story without noting it because the tweet doesn’t match what the story reports at all. The story says that “whistleblower” Rebekah Jones’ 13-year-old son was arrested for threatening to shoot up a middle school — or maybe just knife some kids.
We get that the Herald and Jones both have an irrational hatred of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, but Jones is clearly mentally unbalanced. What’s the Herald’s reason for continuing to call Jones a “whistleblower” when there’s absolutely nothing true about her claim that DeSantis had ordered her to underreport COVID-19 cases and deaths in the state and that she refused?
13-year-old son of Rebekah Jones, whistleblower who clashed with DeSantis, arrested over memes https://t.co/gQqCP76k6u

And it all happened “weeks after Rebekah Jones sued the state of Florida over wrongful termination.” Just throwing that out there.
@CommunityNotes Have at it.

"arrested over memes"
::pause::
What is it you say you do around here? Because threatening to shoot up a school and stab classmates aren't things usually considered memes.
— Physics Geek (@physicsgeek) April 6, 2023
@MarbinMiller does not think school shooter threats are worthy of being addressed by law enforcement to prevent murder. It’s like the Left WANTS tragedy and chaos. Sick.

She's not a whistleblower and they weren't memes.

He was arrested for threatening to shoot up his middle school.
Multiple times.

For making a school shooting threat. Not for memes.

“13 year old homicidal son of discredited low level data entry staff member arrested for threatening to shoot up school”
There—fixed it for ya.

imagine hating a politician so much, you decide to completely destroy your journalistic integrity and public trust.
— Tatjana Pasalic (@Tattytats) April 6, 2023
It’s like the Miami Herald is upset that they don’t get to report on dead kids.
— Nicholas Fondacaro (@NickFondacaro) April 6, 2023
Trivialize and lie about the threat to go on a school shooting rampage because the parent is a prominent Democrat, but after the fact, it's the fault of … the gun.
— Razor (@hale_razor) April 6, 2023
is it that hard to be honest?

.@MiamiHerald running interference for potential school shooters…
— Jean R. Ewing (@GenNerd) April 6, 2023
Not only can the Left not meme, they obviously have no idea what memes are.
Hint: They're not direct terroristic threats.
— TopJimmy (@jp23mc) April 6, 2023
Apparently they were classic memes like "I want to shoot up the school."
— Jacob Bloom (@JacobBloom31) April 6, 2023
Memes? Did the Miami Herald fire all the editors and fact checkers?
— PhotographicFloridian (@JackLinFLL) April 6, 2023
You might want to update this story a bit.
— Real Man of Genius (@realmanofgenius) April 6, 2023
They did. The headline’s been changed, that’s for sure.
Jones lies and you print it. Nice "journalism".
— EZ (@notmyrlnmnemore) April 6, 2023
Has the Miami Herald ever reported a story accurately in regards to Jones?
— Sky Palma (@DeadStateTweets) April 6, 2023
Why don’t you interview her in depth about her son’s situation? She is not compelled to withhold the information, whereas the police almost certainly ARE.
— Robert T. Ives (@Justalurke) April 6, 2023
So all of a sudden it is just a joke when the son of someone sympathetic to your cause threatens to shoot up a school and stab people that make him angry? Now these are just sarcastic jokes?
— Why You Pushin’ Me? (@WhyYouPushingMe) April 6, 2023
You can still delete this.
— The Jorster (@jorster) April 6, 2023
We’re actually surprised they haven’t. Even the Miami Herald must have some capacity for shame and embarrassment.
