ABC News really has its finger on the pulse. Reportedly, Republicans have been mean to Transportation Secretary and his husband Chasten ever since they welcomed two baby daughters into their family. Yes, an editor at ABC News actually gave that assignment to a reporter to write up as news.
Since Buttigieg and his husband Chasten adopted newborn twins in 2021, the Democrat and his family have been repeatedly criticized and mocked by Republicans. https://t.co/3XTSE9lr2N

Apparently, this story was prompted by remarks by former Vice President Mike Pence:
Since Buttigieg and his husband Chasten adopted newborn twins in 2021, the Democrat and his family have been repeatedly criticized and mocked by Republicans, including former Vice President Mike Pence. Most recently, Pence made what the White House described as a “homophobic joke” about Buttigieg taking parental leave.
“When Pete’s two children were born, he took two months’ maternity leave whereupon thousands of travelers were stranded in airports, the air traffic system shut down, and airplanes nearly collided on our runways,” Pence reportedly said at the annual Gridiron Dinner for journalists and politicians in Washington, D.C., on March 11. “Pete is the only person in human history to have a child and everyone else gets postpartum depression.”
Pence, who is considering a 2024 presidential run, has since refused to apologize and even doubled down on his controversial remarks.
Why should he apologize for remarks that are not in the least bit “controversial.” Besides, this was at a roast. “The only thing I can figure is Pete Buttigieg not only can’t do his job, but he can’t take a joke,” Pence said afterward.
The rest of the article simply transcribes Buttigieg’s response to Pence on an ABC podcast. We were promised in the tweet that Republicans have criticized Buttigieg, but ABC News gives only that one example. But hell yes he was criticized for taking paternity leave for a couple of months during the supply chain crisis.
Oh boo-hoo…

I haven't mentioned his child/family once.
I have mentioned his never ending failures as transportation secretary many times.

He’s a diversity hire. That’s the issue.

He is not being criticized for being a married gay parent. They are just trying to get out ahead of when he eventually runs for POTUS again. Assuming he does.

Unqualified diversity hires deserve mockery and criticism.

No one gives a rip about his private life. They care about the fact that he has failed at every turn for a job he was GROSSLY unqualified for.

I'm glad the mainstream media isn't politically biased.

Gaslighting. His performance has been criticized. You are just running cover because you're activists, not journalists.
— Brian (@bhg70) March 27, 2023
Perhaps Buttigieg should’ve rejected the position given his upcoming family additions. No one would have critiqued him for that decision.

Has nothing to do with his twins.
He sucks at his job.

And you wonder why people dislike and don't trust you…

“Homophobic” … “controversial” … nice reporting there.
This "woe is me" BS doesn't work anymore.
He was explicitly criticized for his poor job performance and taking tons of time off after *just getting the job* while Americans suffered.
If he's not strong enough to withstand deserved criticism then he needs to go. https://t.co/w5sf4JZIYN
