Here's a clip of a cartoon bison coming out as nonbinary in show for preschoolers

Somebody in the comments led us to Popsugar, which did a story of Netflix’s preschool series “Ridley Jones,” which apparently came out in 2021. And speaking of coming out, somebody recently posted a clip from the show in which Fred, a bison, comes out as nonbinary to all of the other animals on the farm.

Popsugar reports:

A new preschool series is hitting Netflix in July, and it’s all about inclusivity and helping kids to celebrate people’s differences, find common ground, and respect others. Ridley Jones follows 6-year-old Ridley, who lives in a treehouse inside a museum — alongside her mother and grandmother — where the exhibits come alive at night (it gives us major Night at the Museum vibes!). The animated series will feature a cast that includes LGBTQ+ characters, as well as the first nonbinary character to appear in one of Netflix’s preschool shows, Fred the nonbinary bison.

The show comes from Chris Nee, the creator of Disney’s Doc McStuffins and Vampirina, as well as Netflix’s animated musical series from the Obamas, We the People.

So this clip probably isn’t new, but it’s new to us.

The people who make these shows are trying to make sure that little children grow up tolerant and not cisnormative transphobes like their backward parents. That’s why they have to get to them so young, before they develop the idea that a male father and a female mother is “normal.”
