OK, so pride flags painted on the street are a thing. Way back in 2017, local media reported that an intersection in midtown Atlanta had been graced with permanent rainbow pride flag crosswalks … at a cost of $196,000. There’s a problem, though, with painting your pride colors on the street … people are going to drive over them. In 2018, a pride crosswalk in Hamilton, Ontario was apparently vandalized, so it’s an international problem:

In 2021, we reported that a man in Florida faced felony charges for doing a tire burn-out on a crosswalk that had been painted for Pride Month. And now we’re learning that another pride flag has been defaced with tire tracks in Florida. Here’s Sun-Sentinel reporter Susannah Bryan:
From a #FortLauderdale source: “It appears that the Pride Flag at Sebastian and Seabreeze has been possibly defaced. Less than a month (after its debut). Shameful.” Some are hoping surveillance cameras might shed light on who did this. pic.twitter.com/ZdWgm4OU0V

Cry more, then cope and seethe.
— @Malvenue (@Malvenue) March 8, 2023
WHY is it painted on a public street in the first place?
— Sandy 〽️ (@RightGlockMom) March 8, 2023
Thoughts and Prayers! Maybe @PeteButtigieg can fly down for a photo op of him repainting it while media stooges like you fawn over him.

This reminds us of all the photo-ops of then-New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio pitching in to paint “Black Lives Matter” on city streets. De Blasio declared that one block would become pedestrian-only for the summer to preserve the BLM mural from tire tracks. That’s kind of the chance you take when you paint on the street.
Thoughts and prayers for the appearance of tire marks on your street.

Cool. It is just property.

How about we just don’t politicize roads?

It's painted on a road for crying out loud. pic.twitter.com/euQByuLgSX

Defaced. By Tire tracks. On a street.
— The Redheaded libertarian (@TRHLofficial) March 8, 2023
It's a street, vehicles drive on streets so expect tire tracks 🤔🙄
— Musings of a nobody (@JustaCi54400863) March 8, 2023
Maybe don't put political statements on the street where vehicles drive.
— Real Man of Genius (@realmanofgenius) March 8, 2023
You should go down there to scrub it off.
— Monika (@MonikaMusing) March 8, 2023
President Biden should fly down there and visit the site.
I’m wondering why we have pride flags painted on public streets in the first place.
— Med Bennett (@MedBennett) March 8, 2023
That’s not a bad question.
The worst attack on our Democracy since the Civil War.

Who could have possibly foreseen that a mural on a street might get tire tracks on it?!? Who would have thought it!!! pic.twitter.com/XpV9L0421W

Get that random art off the roads. It's offensive and unnecessarily distracting.
— Motz (@Motz91927026) March 8, 2023
It’s not a flag! It’s a street!
— Jeffrey A Gray (@jeffreyalangray) March 8, 2023
I thought vandalism of flags was a protected right to show dissent and that's essential in a free society.
— Wes (@Wes65570474) March 8, 2023
You can burn an American flag, but you can’t leave tire tracks on a pride flag … that’s painted on the road.
Did you mean that someone defaced the intersection of Sebastian and Seabreeze with that hideous Pride Flag?
— Huff (@Huff4Congress) March 8, 2023
Let’s hope surveillance cameras track down the homophobe who did this, so they can make him also write an essay about the hate that gay people face.
