Grandpa Joe Biden was in Baltimore Monday to kick off an infrastructure tour, making an appearance at a 150-year-old train tunnel that’s scheduled to be repaired. He also had an Amtrak story to tell the crowd, and you know it’s true because he said, “For real.”
This isn’t the debunked Amtrak story that Biden’s told at least seven times, according to the New York Post’s count. That’s this one:
“I was — the Secret Service doesn’t like me taking the train because it stops too many places. And so I was riding home though to see my mom who was living with me because she was in hospice. And on a Friday, a guy named Angelo Negri, a conductor, senior conductor, walked up and said, ‘Joey, baby!’ — grabbed my cheek. I though he was gonna shoot him. He goes, ‘Joey!’ I said, ‘Ang!’ I said, ‘He’s okay, he’s a friend.’ True story.”
“True story” … that’s been debunked by the AP, CNN, and more. Angelo Negri retired in 1992 and died in May 2014.
Now Biden has a couple of other Amtrak stories to share. The man loves his trains:
BIDEN: "I can say it now since there's different leadership. I used to about 15% of the time ride with the engineers. For real. And I'm the only guy that I'm aware of, when I stopped riding Amtrak that had a key to get in the back." pic.twitter.com/mhfUeg0kki

We need a montage of all these stories.

I seriously doubt Amtrak was allowing passengers to ride in a locomotive cab, even the Senator from Delaware. I spent 11 years in PR with Conrail. Don't recall once we ever granted a media ride along request. But Joe just strolled into the cab at will? Nope.

He would reportedly hold up the train and the other passengers if he was running late. He often ran late. pic.twitter.com/hcgFAnWGSL

If he says: “Honest to God”, “It’s true”, or “For real”. What he just said is a lie.

For real and no joke means it’s not true

More Grampy stories.

Does he think these stories make him seem relatable?

Makes ya wonder if they gave him an engineer's hat to wear when he blew the whistle.

Nope. Not one word of it.

Wouldn’t this be some sort of violation of federal regulations? If true. Which it is not.

I don’t get the point of these lies he always tells. You’re President. you don’t need to do this. I don’t know if deep down he’s insecure or what

What in the name of Hairy Legs Corn Pop is he talking about? He KNOWS we can research this stuff, right?

Maybe this one’s true; we’re sure Glenn Kessler and Daniel Dale and PolitiFact and Snopes are on it. This one’s already been debunked:
