Rep. Ted Lieu explains that Republicans are upset because President Biden lowered gas prices

This editor got gas Thursday morning at $3.70 a gallon. It’s been higher, but it still costs more than $50 to fill the tank, which would have been absurd to think a couple of years ago. That was before President Joe Biden took office, killed off the Keystone Pipeline, and froze oil and gas leases on federal land.

Of course, Biden had an explanation for the price hike, or at least one landed in his lap. Russia’s invasion of Ukraine led us to put sanctions on Russian oil exports, and thus the price of gas was attributed to the “Putin price hike.” When that excuse didn’t stick, Biden blamed high gas prices on price gouging from gas stations and demanded that they stop it. Then he started draining the strategic petroleum reserves.

This clip from the House floor was posted by Aaron Rupar, so you know he thought Rep. Ted Lieu knocked it out of the park. The debate, Lieu said, comes down to the GOP being upset that Biden has reduced gas prices.

We were assured several times over the last two years that the president doesn’t control gas prices.

The “brave” Lieu is getting a lot of love from Rupar’s followers for telling it just like it is. If Biden is capable of lowering gas prices, could he please lower them to where they were before he was inaugurated? That would really upset those Republicans.
