CNN took away Don Lemon’s prime-time soapbox and stuck him as a morning show host, but that doesn’t mean he can’t still speak truth to power. This morning, he spoke about Florida’s new book bans, which make it feel like the 1950s all over again in the Sunshine State. Teachers can even be charged with a crime for distributing these books to their students and maybe even thrown in jail. It’s outrageous!
Don Lemon on Florida: “It feels like the 1950s all over again, with book banning. This is cancel culture from people who are, I guess they just want our kids to be ignorant, and to control the teachers. This is outrageous.”

Judd Legum and a local Florida TV host spoke about this same issue a day ago, so the media’s trying to make it a thing. Florida’s education commissioner, Manny Diaz Jr., posted the text of the bill everyone’s talking about:
More fake news from media activists too lazy to read FL law. A teacher (or any adult) faces a felony if they knowingly distribute egregious material, such as images which depict sexual conduct, sexual battery, bestiality, or sadomasochistic abuse. Who could be against that? https://t.co/E6xlXqlVev

Who could be against that? You’d be surprised.
These CNN drones are sick. They have to be kidding

Him being considered as a journalist is quite outrageous.

Don was alive in the 50’s? Absolutely amazing.

It’s not about banning real academic learning.
What about age appropriateness do these people not get!?!— MsFrogDog (@MsFrogDog) January 26, 2023
He should read examples of these books over the air.
— Arne Saknussemm (@Bjelke31) January 26, 2023
Yes, read a sample on air on CNN. They certainly wouldn’t air the illustrations in “Gender Queer” without blurring them out.
Show us the books then Don
— Herbert’s Burner (@burner_herbert) January 26, 2023
To be clear Don is equating the government deciding it's no longer going to fund literal porn (Gender Queer) in public schools to 1950's censorship?

They are removing “Lawn Boy”? Shoot…I love that story of pedo sex!! It’s right up there with “Huckleberry Finn”!
— Antonia Hall (@Antonia89730114) January 26, 2023
The most extreme examples in these types of cases really do push the envelope hard.

You can always tell those who research to get the whole story and those that read the headlines.
— Calista Reece (@calista_reece) January 26, 2023
The programming is pathetic
— President Xi Biden (@ArticleFiveNow) January 26, 2023
Lemon “can’t explain what’s going on” because the outrage is a farce. It’s all fake. He can’t describe what isn’t real as CNN pumps more fake news.
— Masculinity Matters (@Masculinity_) January 26, 2023
Oh no, teachers and librarians can’t distribute pornography to children in Florida. Explain why they should, Lemon.
