As Twitchy reported earlier, Nina Turner has been going on for a couple of days now about AR-15s and how they’re “hunting” rifles that no one uses for hunting. If you’re using an AR-15 to hunt, then you’re hunting humans, added Brian Karem.
Maybe Turner jumped to the conclusion that the Monterey Park mass shooter had used an AR-15, just as so many had assumed the shooter was driven by white supremacy.
Rep. Hakeem Jeffries also tweeted about “weapons of war” on Monday:
Weapons of war used to hunt human beings have no place in a civilized society.
— Hakeem Jeffries (@RepJeffries) January 23, 2023
By weapons of war, is Jeffries referring to assault pistols? Because according to the sheriff, the shooter used a “magazine-fed assault pistol.”
#Breaking: LA Sheriff Robert G. Luna conducts presser, naming 72-year-old HUU CAN TRAN as alleged mass shooter in Torrance, CA.
Shooter deceased, via self-inflicted gunshot, as LA SWAT closed in.
Subject’s weapon described as “magazine-fed assault pistol w/extended magazine.”

I heard something today that I never heard before in regards to the Monterey Park mass shooting. “Assault Pistol.” Give the media an A for effort. The shooter broke California law so which law would have stopped him?
— Carmine Sabia (@CarmineSabia) January 23, 2023
NBC4 LA called it an “assault pistol.” I kid you not. 🙄
— Gwendolyn Sims 🇺🇸 (@scvbuckeye) January 23, 2023
LA Sheriff calling that dudes gun a “magazine fed assault pistol” should tell you literally everything you need to know about the intention they have following the event.
— Shadz (@Shadzey1) January 23, 2023
So a handgun.
— Just Evan™ (@EvanPrinciple) January 23, 2023
“assault pistol” 😂
— Jeffery (@jeffery4free) January 23, 2023
Shouldn't LEO execs be using real terms? That's not even a phrase of art within the field. What is he actually describing?
— Craic Yehuda (@indoeuropa) January 23, 2023
…now I know even less than when we started
— Buck 🔞 (@Buck3DX) January 23, 2023
Can you provide an example of an assault pistol?
— DeadYup (@DeadYup1) January 23, 2023
So, like, it had a chainsaw attachment?
— Jeremy Jentz (@TherealYohakeem) January 23, 2023
Does that "assault pistol come with bayonet and grenade launcher?
— 2 words: made in America (@bearcats03) January 23, 2023
Is an “assault pistol” just a Glock with a gas cook stove attached?

I'd like to report an assault tweet.
— Russell Flowers (@ChoralReave) January 23, 2023
So like every single non-revolver pistol in America of which in a state like California requires an extensive permitting process?
— JP26 🇺🇸 👀 (@jpass26) January 23, 2023
"The shooter used a semi-automatic, plastic assault straw, which are illegal in California cuz they end up up sea turtle noses."
— Anne West (@AnneStBarbara) January 23, 2023
Who described it as a “magazine-fed assault pistol w/extended magazine?”
Seriously. Because I feel like a law enforcement analyst should know that is pure gibberish and wouldn’t bother propagating it.
— Jason Cocca (@jason_cocca) January 23, 2023
Are you sure it wasn't a belt fed assault pistol?
You absolute spergs.
— Ghost of a Texas ladies man (@MikeDeKulak) January 23, 2023
Here we go! This whole "assault" thing is so dumb.
— James OBrien (@RedSpeedA2) January 23, 2023
How does a retired FBI and law enforcement “specialist” not call this out for the bullshit it is? Fucking “assault pistol.” Get real.
— DustinDictators (@DustinDictators) January 23, 2023
It’s so much easier to push for gun control legislation when it’s an assault weapons ban, so make everything an assault weapon.
