Wisconsin public school cancels drag show after 'anti-LGBTQ' Libs of TikTok tweeted about it

This editor sure hopes he doesn’t get fired for following Libs of TikTok on Twitter. In fact, we might have a couple of posts from Libs of TikTok today.

For example, Libs of TikTok has announced that a high school’s planned drag show for students has been “canceled among safety concerns.” That’s very sad.

We checked local news sources, and WKOW states that the event has been postponed “after receiving threatening messages,” none of which WKOW quotes in its story. So we checked in on The Cap Times, which had plenty to say about Libs of TikTok. Education reporter Scott Girard writes:

A student-planned drag show at East High School has been postponed amid safety concerns following a hostile reception to the event from some conservatives online.

On Thursday afternoon, Libs of TikTok, an account that has been suspended from Twitter multiple times for targeted harassment and other violations, sent out its own tweets about the event. The account has focused much of its energy on anti-LGBTQ messaging, often focused on schools and educators.

Its first tweet on the event has more than 550,000 views and received more than 1,500 retweets, including a quote tweet from Republican former Gov. Scott Walker, among others.

Soon after the Libs of TikTok tweets, accounts began responding to unrelated tweets from the Madison Metropolitan School District and East High accounts, repeatedly directing the word “groomers” at both.

Yes, Libs of TikTok has been suspended multiple times. And calling someone a groomer isn’t a threat. Do you think the reporter might be a bit biased?

That’s our question and we’ve never received a convincing answer. What’s the compulsion to put drag queens and students together?

We know what the school’s reasoning would be to hold a drag show: tolerance. We need kids to learn to be tolerant of the LGBTQ community, and the only way to ensure that is to expose them to it as much as possible.
