Historic: First 'woman' to be executed by the state of Missouri Tuesday evening

Last month, Twitchy reported how Amber McLaughlin was asking for clemency, citing mental health issues. McLaughlin was convicted of killing 45-year-old Beverly Guenther on November 20, 2003, raping her and then stabbing her to death. The McLaughlin execution is getting a lot of attention because it will be a historic first: McLaughlin will be the first openly transgender person executed in the United States, and the first “woman” to be executed by the state of Missouri.

Yeah, maybe she should have raped and stabbed that other woman.

VICE reports:

The United States is set to execute an openly transgender person for the first time in the nation’s history, according to the Death Penalty Information Center.

Larry Komp, McLaughlin’s lawyer, told the Associated Press that McLaughlin’s gender dysphoria diagnosis is a part of the clemency request but “not the main focus.”

“It’s wrong when anyone’s executed regardless, but I hope that this is a first that doesn’t occur,” Komp told NBC News upon first filing for clemency in early December.

Some have reported they’re wearing pink today in solidarity with McLaughlin, who’s apparently asked that supporters wear pink nail polish or lipstick.

Is there some rule about executing trans people? The media certainly seems to be giving this case a lot of attention.
