Here’s some sobering news from Gizmodo after Twitter owner Elon Musk made fun of that stash of #StayWoke T-shirts piled up in a closet. It turns out that Musk tweeted in support of the police officer who shot Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri, and claimed that “Hands Up, Don’t Shoot” was a lie. The forensics report, done under the direction of the Obama administration, determined that Brown did not have his hands up when he was shot but rather was lunging for the cop in an attempt to take his gun.

As we just mentioned in a recent post, we’re old enough to remember when previous Twitter ownership painted the #Ferguson hashtag at headquarters:

Gizmodo writes that “Dorsey, once wore the [#StayWoke] shirt to the Code Conference in 2016 during a panel discussing the Black Lives Matter movement:
Elon Musk tweeted a defense of the police officer who shot 18-year-old Michael Brown—an unarmed Black man in Ferguson, Missouri back in 2014—early Wednesday before deleting the incendiary post. Musk said the police officer was “exonerated” and that the narrative around the shooting was a “fiction.”
And? Why the scare-quotes around “exonerated”?
What he said was accurate.
The cop was exhonorated.
— Jacktogon (@jacktogon) November 23, 2022
That defense being "Obama's own DOJ exonerated him."
— Small Metal Owl (@SmallMetalOwl) November 23, 2022
Damn those pesky facts.
— Kyle Beckley (@Kyle_Beckley) November 23, 2022
"We won't relitigate what happened in 2014…" code for he was correct, but we don't want to acknowledge that and would rather focus on another issue that had nothing to do with the specific claim Elon made.
<End article with implied accusation that Elon is racist>

A very thorough investigation agrees the officer was exonerated

This needs context

Are you claiming that what Elon said was false?
Or merely implying it?

Gizmodo jumping on the moral outrage clickbait headlines again
— Will ⚖️🇺🇸 (@AttorneyWill) November 23, 2022
Try again! He didn’t defend the officer, @elonmusk pointed out the shooting was found to be justified based on the evidence.
Facts!

Why do you lie?
— Pigeon (@MartinG52852315) November 23, 2022
The problem was, & is, that Musk was right. Spend a couple of hours & read everything about this case. This kid was high, attempted to take the officers gun while the cop was still in his car, surrendered, & then rushed the cop, & got shot. Obama DOJ called it a good shoot.
— Blind Squirrel (@used_iconoclast) November 23, 2022
He tweeted the truth. The media narrative in response to the Ferguson riots was fiction.
— Viking Esq. (@VikingEsquire) November 23, 2022
Even the photo Gizmodo used is meant to gaslight … Mike Brown never had his hands up … forensic evidence and eye witnesses refuted this.
— Red State of Mind (@RickNYC732) November 23, 2022
Is this the guy that assaulted the cop after robbing cigars from the store?
— BeaverCleaver123 (@BCleaver123) November 23, 2022
The media perpetuated the lie. pic.twitter.com/NnsAjxMDa0
— Joe Amend (@joe_amend) November 23, 2022
You meant to say Elon Musk Tweets a link to the Obama DOJ report that exonerated the cop, right?
— Joe Amend (@joe_amend) November 23, 2022
All of the liberals supposedly flocking to Mastodon were perfectly happy with Twitter when Jack Dorsey was painting #Ferguson on the wall and marching with protesters and handing out #StayWoke T-shirts. To them, that was a level playing field.

Update:
According to Obama’s DoJ, the Ferguson shooting was unequivocally self-defense, so the Ferguson protests were – if you believe Obama’s DoJ – based on a false premise.
That’s not to say that other injustices don’t occur, but this does not appear to be one of them. @CommunityNotes
