You know how the talking heads in the mainstream media always focus on one thing? When Georgia passed its new voting laws — the Jim Crow 2.0 ones that inspired Major League Baseball to pull the All-Star Game out of the state — the big sticking point with liberals was the prohibition of handing out food and water by campaigns. They won’t let you have water while you wait in line to vote! People will die of dehydration before they get to the voting machine.
random election day fact: it’s illegal to give people water within 150 feet of a polling place in georgia
and punishable by up to a year in prison— ian bremmer (@ianbremmer) November 8, 2022
That’s all we heard about, and MSNBC’s David Jolly brought it up Monday night:
Divorced from reality: MSNBC's David Jolly claims the courts in Georgia have ruled that "you're not allowed to share a bottle of water with a voter but you can greet them with an assault weapon" at the polls. pic.twitter.com/lQuoI5dFb3

You could — and this is just a suggestion — bring your own bottle of water.
Really dumb "analysis" from @DavidJollyFL . First, yes, poll workers can give water but campaigns cannot electioneer. Second, GA doesn't allow carry at polls. A simple review of their laws would have prevented this cringe. https://t.co/huPQlxB9bx

Also, what is this obsession with water and snacks at the polls? Are you a damn toddler? Need mom to pack your snacks because you can't go two hours without eating? FFS, people.

Even with these Jim Eagle voting laws, Georgia reported record turnout for early voting.
So what. Hand it out at 151 feet or here’s a thought… bring your own.

You’re omitting, Ian. Be honest. Page 73 of the “Jim Crow” voter law says “with the intention of influencing an elector.” Page 74 specifically allows poll officials to give bottles of water to voters. You’re better than that.

People will wait in line for hours to see a movie, go on a ride at an amusement park, get a phone, Black Friday sales. Are they expecting these other places to supply them with water and snacks?

It took 10 minutes for me to vote and I’m from Georgia. Same for my wife and son.

I live in Georgia and I managed to survive without water for the five minutes it took me to vote today.

I was in line for 2:10 this morning – how I made it without water and snackies is incredible. 😂

Been voting for 30 years, waited in line sometimes for hours at a time…never felt I was on the verge of dehydration or starvation in any of those instances. Just another way they can scream “Voter suppression”

I receive my only food supply from elections every 2 years

The act of voting is akin to a 3 day hike…… pack accordingly.

I took my 4 and 5 year old boys with me to vote. None of us required water, snacks, or bathroom because I’m a responsible adult and took care of all that before we left.

Until I see the official final fatality numbers of voters who have died of thirst and/or starvation while standing in line to vote, I'm going to withhold judgment on this.

Those are lies about people not being able to have water at the polls. They absolutely can but you can’t use water or snacks to promote a candidate. If these so called journalists from BSNBC would learn to read and research, they wouldn’t always sound so stupid and uninformed!
— Marty Puryear (@MartyPuryear) November 8, 2022
Campaign workers can’t hand out slices of pizza to people in line and say, “Vote for Stacey Abrams.” Where’s the problem?
