You might have read earlier this week that Twitchy’s own PolitiBunny managed to tick off White House Deputy Press Secretary Andrew Bates, who was relying on PolitiFact to clean up Vice President Kamala Harris’ comment about the hurricane relief effort being based on equity. We would have missed this piece by David French, but some low-life managed to get it into our feed.
“Twitchy’s business model is to package right-wing Twitter attacks into news stories, slap inflammatory headlines on them, and gleefully claim that this or that person has been shamed, destroyed, humiliated—often by a set of random Twitter trolls,” he writes.
Hey French, if a story we wrote is incorrect, write to us and we’ll correct it. Don’t cry about it.
Anyway, French is writing about — we hope you’re sitting down — the malicious ethos of Trumpism. There’s even a graphic of an angry mob wielding pitchforks and baseball bats ready to force you to get in line.
A story about an avalanche of lies, the malicious ethos of Trumpism, and the tactics of the gutter right–tactics that are wielded against public figures and private citizens.
The message is clear. Get in line, or you will be made to pay: https://t.co/dZ0C5dIFs5

French writes:
Let’s chronicle the lies so far. Gutter right trolls lied that I called Blaze management. Gutter right trolls lied that I tried to get Kelly fired. Kelly misrepresented my wife’s age at the time of her abuse (and refused to apologize or delete her tweet after she was corrected). All of this, of course, has been accompanied by an online campaign of vicious insults directed at me and my wife.
…
Why tell the story? Because it’s important to understand how this slice of the right operates, it’s important to understand the dilemma that faces people of good will, and it’s important for understanding how toxic lies spread through the right-wing infotainment ecosystem.

The thing that sticks out here is that French obviously considers himself a person of good will. This editor used to call Matthew Dowd America’s scold, but that mantle has been passed. Whatever you’re doing, it’s not up to French’s standard.
And what of your own tactics – those that are malicious and guilt-inducing?

We’re sorry if The Blaze story we wrote about was false. We’ll go append a note to it now. (OK, it’s there.) But if French thinks Twitchy has anything to do with Trumpism, he’s obviously not reading any posts that don’t feature him.
