As you know if you’ve been on Twitchy at all today, Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams claimed that there is no fetal heartbeat at six weeks and it’s just a sound made up by men to control women’s bodies. The Washington Post’s fact-checker, Glenn Kessler, dug up an article from NPR that says, no, what you’re hearing is an electrical impulse. As a result, Stacey Abrams is trending on Twitter, and if you’d like to know how Twitter feels about it, check out how they describe why Abrams is trending:
Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams said there is ‘is no such thing’ as a fetal heartbeat at six weeks of pregnancy, and doctors agree one doesn’t exist during this early stage of pregnancy, reports from NBC News and NPR confirm
Oh, NBC News and NPR confirm? OK, then. Here’s a screenshot:
So if that’s just a “made up” sound to control women’s bodies, why does this female physician claim otherwise? Well, she’s Catholic, for one thing, so of course, she supports the patriarchy. Check out her video, though:
On the science of the fetal doppler heartbeat. No, @staceyabrams it's not a sound manufactured by men to oppress women. It's a heartbeat. pic.twitter.com/pASjyhP33c

I saw and heard my younger son's heartbeat at 6 weeks. It was such a joyful moment to know that he was healthy and strong! Thank you @GChristiemd for setting the record straight

Wat? I didn't even realize this was a thing. So fetal monitoring and technology is now part of the Patriarchy? Got it.
She should go back to making sandwiches, would be a lot happier in life.

So, when Stacey Abrams and the Democrats tell us to follow the science, and then they don't follow the science, I'm skeptical of if they ever actually wanted us to follow the science…https://t.co/v6p6fBCClX

Is it possible Kessler at least will acknowledge that his “fact-check” is seriously under question? He looked up one article on NPR and decided that, yeah, it’s just a sound that men made up to control women.
