Doctor says actions like 'refusing to get a haircut' might mean your child is transgender

Boston Children’s Hospital’s Gender Multispecialty Service has been promoting itself recently with a series of interviews with doctors. As Twitchy reported, one video featured a doctor explaining the difference between a “gender-affirming” hysterectomy and your run-of-the-mill hysterectomy. Keep in mind that this is a children’s hospital.

ABC News earlier this year featured a mother who said her child expressed that she was transgender at the earliest moment she had the words to express it. Boston Children’s Hospital’s Dr. Jeremi Carswell says that’s typical — while some might not realize they’re transgender until adolescence, a lot of trans children have known they were born into the wrong body since birth, practically.

In the 30-second video, Carswell answers the question, “When does a child know they’re transgender?” The Post Millennial reports:

“We have parents who tell us that their kids they knew from the minute they were born practically,” Carswell says, before going on to describe a child’s unwillingness to adhere to gender stereotypes as evidence of being trans.

“And actions like refusing to get a haircut or standing to urinate or trying to stand to urinate, refusing to stand to urinate, trying on siblings’ clothing, playing with the quote ‘opposite gender,’ toys, things like that,” she says of children who give pre-verbal indicators that they are meant to be the opposite sex.

So how soon do you start hormone therapy after your pre-verbal girl starts playing with toy cars?

Running the hospital’s Gender Multispecialty Service is her full-time gig. We wonder if she’s ever diagnosed a little girl as just being a tomboy?
