As Twitchy reported earlier, one of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reporters who didn’t get laid off this week tried to give a lesson in using quotes accurately after tweeting about Florida’s “Don’t Say Gay” law — he said the name recognition of “Don’t Say Gay” (thanks to the media) was a good lesson in marketing and branding, and that’s why they don’t use the law’s actual name.
So the Parental Right in Education law has gone into effect and NBC News reports that “representatives of the Orange County Classroom Teachers Association accused school officials Monday of verbally warning educators not to wear rainbow articles of clothing and to remove pictures of their same-sex spouses from their desks and LGBTQ safe space stickers from classroom doors.” Yes, we heard that story — and we also heard that it was panicked school officials and not the law that was compelling them to do this: “Some of the measures appeared to be far outside what the law actually forbids,” local news reported.
The Connecticut Democrats retweeted the NBC News story with the note that Gov. Ron DeSantis has made it a crime to mention one in 14 Americans.
Republican presidential wannabe makes it a crime to mention one of of every 14 Americans. What's next, USA??
As Florida's 'Don't Say Gay' law takes effect, schools roll out LGBTQ restrictions https://t.co/GcreouxKP4 via @nbcnews— CT Senate Democrats (@CTSenateDems) July 2, 2022
Really… a crime to "mention"… the bullshittery is thick in Connecticut…

But the law doesn't say don't say gay, it's more like don't explain sex to 5 year olds@USMiniTru

"HB 1557, bans “instruction” about sexual orientation or gender identity “in kindergarten through grade 3 or in a manner that is not age appropriate or developmentally appropriate for students in accordance with state standards.”"

Isn't it such a shame when teachers must separate their personal lives from their classrooms. Oh the horror! 😵 (clutches pearls).

i really admire the fervor with which you're leaning into this "party of the criminally uninformed" rebranding

This is a lie and no one believes it

So who is doing fact-checking on Twitter today? Because this one is a blatant lie.

1 in 14 is a gross overestimation…
— Maximus (@maximus_pcb) July 2, 2022
You got your numbers wrong…if your referring to the percentage of the population that is gay you should have stated that it is one in 33. Not one in 14. but what do you expect? Leftists always lie.

If nothing else, at least we know you’re dishonest.

This tweet is a lie. It's not a crime to say "gay". Are y'all really this stupid or are the lies effective with your dumb voter base?
— Catherine (@CatherineInFL) July 2, 2022
This messaging doesn’t work. Yet the Democrats fascination with trans stripper story time and encouraging minors to undergo life-changing and irreversible surgeries to validate the lifestyles of trans activists doesn’t sit well with Hispanics. Maybe you should speak to some?

This tweet from Friday gives a good idea of whether this strategy of lying is working on the Democrat base:
I hope there are thousands of broadcast where every other word is (GAY),loud people in the streets singing GAY,GAY,GAY. Freedom of speech racist screaming their right to free speech.! Well guess what taking away millions of Americans right to say GAY,takes away freedom of speech https://t.co/b5cPItLQIJ
— SarrahBS (@BsSarrah) July 1, 2022
They literally think Florida has made it against the law to say the word “gay.”
