WaPo's Taylor Lorenz walks back accusation that she was harassed by a Drudge Report editor

It was about a month ago, before her hit piece on Libs of TikTok, that the Washington Post’s Taylor Lorenz sat down for an interview in which she discussed the “severe PTSD” she suffers from mean tweets. It was one of those moments where she teared up in front of the cameras, but at other times, she seems to shake off “harassment” pretty easily.

Oliver Darcy wrote in Monday night’s “Reliable Sources” newsletter that Lorenz had walked back her claim that she had been “relentlessly” harassed by a Drudge Report editor “who had threatened to use the site to destroy her career” — so of what she does with her platform.

“Relentless” harassment of a female journalist is hardly hilarious. Darcy writes:

Lorenz told me that her initial tweets were a “joke” and that she found the idea someone could harm her career via the Drudge Report “hilarious.” Lorenz said she was “laughing very hard about the idea” and was simply joking about it online. “I am happy to correct the record that I have no drama with Drudge Report,” Lorenz told me.

The Washington Post, which seems to be making a habit of issuing statements on Lonenz, said that “as soon as she learned the person had no connection to the Drudge Report, she deleted the original tweet and wrote a tweet apologizing for her comment.”

That’s her story, and she’s sticking to it:

We must be glad to have an employer always ready with a statement to “clarify” her output.
