Jesse Singal is one of those writers whom a lot of people write off as one of those Substack conservatives because he writes a lot about gender identity with a critical eye. That critical eye caught sight of this quote by trans writer Jules Gill-Peterson in Scientific American: “The crisis for both physicians and psychologists in the 1950s was that they had no idea what made people male or female. It wasn’t chromosomes. It wasn’t gonads, right? It wasn’t hormonal composition. It wasn’t genetics.”
Yeah, quite the crisis we were facing.
I don't understand what the end game is here pic.twitter.com/e20kkpXu6E

The end game is evolution:
Sex is an endlessly creative form generated by evolution without any predestined purpose and trans people are the only ones having a good time with it??!
— Jules Gill-Peterson (@gp_jls) April 8, 2022
This tweet brought to you by: Charles Darwin, trans theorist.
— Jules Gill-Peterson (@gp_jls) April 8, 2022
When did Darwin say that creatures evolved with no predestined purpose? Survival? Reproduction?
2/ Here is a 1960s sex ed film that offers very clear explanations of what males and females are. I don't get what Scientific American is doing here or why it thinks this sort of claim will advance trans rights. It is turning itself into a laughingstock.https://t.co/bCgdwoZCPi
— Jesse Singal (@jessesingal) April 12, 2022
A lot of “scientific” journals have turned into laughingstocks over this.
3/ This likely causes completely pointless backlash and definitely causes a great deal of scientific illiteracy. It is not the way.
— Jesse Singal (@jessesingal) April 12, 2022
4/ Someone responded that I selectively cropped this and it's better in full context. It isn't! But here's a zoomout. It isn't true that modern experts ever "had no idea what made people male or female." She is leaning very hard on rare genuine intersex cases. pic.twitter.com/EfjhEvp4wZ

Ascribing an endgame assumes a logic to it all. I hate describing things as mere signaling but this is mere signaling.

The end game is human extinction.
IMHO there's a strong overlap between radical gender ideology, misanthropy, anti-natalism, eco-alarmism, & a deep self-hatred that's generalized to the species level.
People who think Earth would be better off without any people.

Given male and female are defined by anisogamy, Hertwig and Fol discussed differential gamete size and fertilization back in the late 1870s. The answer existed for literally 70 years prior to this claimed confusion in the 50s. I'm calling BS.
— Justin Robertello (@JTRobertello) April 12, 2022
For ~99% of the population of a given anisogamous species (like humans) where members of said species are exclusively one sex or another, it comes down to:
Larger of the two gametes: female
Smaller of the two: MaleThe small remainder are intersex.
— Jake Walker (@Jake_W) April 12, 2022
Most intersex who survive to puberty and adulthood will generally present phenotypically as male or female, with the exception of the genitals.

We’re doing a society-wide experiment in what could happen if we take polite fictions to their ultimate conclusions and try to make all discourse adopt them.
— Jeremiah John (@JeremiahWJohn) April 12, 2022
I’m not even against all polite fictions. Politeness is good. But it’s hard to think of another topic on which it’s been taken this far.
— Jeremiah John (@JeremiahWJohn) April 12, 2022
The end game is short term clout boosting that only serves to do longer term damage to the fields they're in and causes they likely say they aim to support.
— Ryan B. (@rboger12) April 12, 2022
The end game is to make gender an even more profitable industry than it is right now, and to let men take over all women's rights, spaces, services, categories, etc.
— tania KPSS (@manymiaows) April 12, 2022
The goal is to destroy our ability to categorize anything. Queer Theory is more or less founded on the idea that 'difference is ALWAYS hierarchy.' Thus, they believe that denying categorical (e.g., chromosomal) differences is the only way to create a truly equal society.

And yet, a forensic pathologist can tell you if a skeleton was male or female.
— GodaiShinkage (@GShinkage) April 12, 2022
The end game is to legitimize any single person's choice to express themselves however they wish – which we are (for the most part) happy to do. However, this is done at the expense of clear language & acknowledgment of material reality.
— Carlyn 🌻 (@toleratefreedom) April 12, 2022
The end game is the destruction of reality.
These are people who start with their conclusions and work backwards from them.

Even Barack Obama believed that marriage was between a man and a woman and God was somewhere in the mix. At least that’s what he believed before he lit up the White House in rainbow lights. The end game was letting gays get married, duh.
