Hmm … has there been anything in the news recently about sentencing guidelines for child pornography offenders needing to be revised? Well, there were the Supreme Court confirmation hearings for Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson, who argued that sentencing guidelines for child pornography offenders are “leading to extreme disparities in the system” and need to be revised … downward. You used to have to get your child porn through the mail, but now it’s just a click or two and you can have thousands of images of child porn on your hard drive. Shouldn’t that ease of access figure into sentences?
Sen. Josh Hawley, who subjected Jackson to “QAnon-signaling smears,” has introduced legislation to toughen sentences for child porn offenders, and Sen. Dick Durbin wants to know why he’s introduced it now, today.
Senator Dick Durbin is objecting to Senator @HawleyMO's legislation seeking to toughen sentences for child porn offenders:
"These guidelines…don't reflect the reality of today…we now live in a world of internet and access to…thousands of images, if that is your decision." pic.twitter.com/cWovwxPm52

Yes, Democrats are now arguing for lighter sentences for child porn offenses.
The guidelines still require individuals to intentionally seek the material, regardless if virtual or physical photographs. No one is accidentally coming across this stuff and being charged. Anyone who seeks it should be in jail for a LONG time.

How is this happening?! We went from two sides having different approaches to the same goal to two completely different realities.

What exactly is he implying

The change in access to these materials is all more reason to push forward heavier charges. 🙄

Dunno who needs to hear this, but the party that wants to abort healthy babies while they’re being born, indoctrinate kindergartners about sex, send drag queens into libraries, and chemically sterilize adolescents behind their parents’ backs is not a party that cares about kids. https://t.co/04DXeawlqH

Zero shock.

There was never a bigger supporter for the reason for Sen. Hawley's legislation than Sen. Durbin.

The Democrats are insane.

President Joe Biden’s nomination of Jackson brought this subject to the table, and now Democrats like Durbin need to parrot her policies.
