Co-host Amy Schumer would like to have Volodymyr Zelensky make a virtual appearance at the Oscars

This editor has no idea when the Academy Awards are going to be on and recognizes two of the three co-hosts. He also couldn’t name any of the Best Picture nominees. Oscar viewership in 2021 suffered a massive 51 percent drop from the previous year, and nothing they’ve done would suggest that number won’t plummet again. But co-host Amy Schumer would like to find a way to have Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky Skype into the awards show and speak to the assembled elite.

CNN reports:

“I actually pitched, I wanted to find a way to have Zelensky satellite in or make a tape or something just because there are so many eyes on the Oscars,” Schumer said during an appearance on “The Drew Barrymore Show,” where she was promoting the 94th Academy Awards.
Schumer continued: “I think it’s a great opportunity to at least comment on a couple of things. I have some jokes that kind of highlight the sort of current condition. I mean, there are so many awful things happening that it seems hard to focus on which one.”

There are so many awful things happening … like Schumer having some jokes.

Yes.

It really is. Have Schumer and Wanda Sykes tell some jokes, get Zelensky on Zoom to talk about the shelling, and then cut to Best Supporting Actor.
