Major backups were reported on I-81 in Virginia as snow moved through the region Sunday and new Gov. Glenn Youngkin requested that Virginians avoid unnecessary travel so that the plows could do their thing. Youngkin’s team said they were closely monitoring roads and the forecast and included a photo — which Everytown press secretary Zack DiGregorio is describing as a recreation of the Bin Laden raid photo.
Road conditions continue to vary across the Commonwealth. Our team is closely monitoring roads and the forecast for this evening. Please follow weather updates, stay safe, and stay off the roads. Especially the I-81 corridor at this time. pic.twitter.com/zfkxTpi7G8

Glenn Youngkin got 2 inches of snow and he’s recreating the Bin Laden raid photo pic.twitter.com/xR8J6moWgN

Someone sounds bitter.
Only two inches fell in *DC*
Rural VA saw higher totals. VDOT reported ~500 vehicular accidents and ~500 disabled vehicles due to the storm. A jackknifed tractor trailer paralyzed I-81 near Roanoke.
Dems tend to think only DC matters, and here's that sentiment on full display. https://t.co/TvklH8XyOf

outgoing Governor Northam was just criticized for the I-95 paralysis that stranded thousands of people.
With that example so close in the rearview, a tweet demonstrating that the Governor is fully engaged in the storm response isn't just good political hygiene, it's expected.

The Totally Not Angry people are upset that the new governor is too prepared for bad weather events https://t.co/thnmJUSo89

It probably has something to do with what happened in Virginia a few days ago where a senator and thousands of others were stuck on frozen highways for a day… https://t.co/9Z7H3ui71a

I realize people are mocking this photo as overly dramatic, but given what just happened on I-95 a few weeks ago, a little overkill is nice. https://t.co/3hYbBNsEC8

Area DC Resident thinks the rest of Virginia only got as much snow as DC did.
Because that's how thick the bubble he lives in is. https://t.co/I2k0quRxig

It was 8 inches on highways dipshit https://t.co/9VKDnsaWTJ

Hey dipshit, the Twitter liberal rage mob was blaming Youngkin for the road conditions two weeks before he was inaugurated so maybe shut your whore Democrat mouth. https://t.co/AK6Gjq4uKd
— SFK (@stephenkruiser) January 17, 2022
Context: people blamed Glenn Youngkin for I95 when he wasn’t even in office yet
So this is actually a good response from Youngkin because it shows he actually listened to peoples complaints about that, anyway https://t.co/Vyw6ifN9QQ
— crabcrawler (@crabcrawler1) January 17, 2022
Weren't people criticizing Youngkin, just the other week, for not being prepared for snow on the freeway when he hasn't even governor yet?https://t.co/STsgaX2AgN

Two weeks ago drivers were stranded for 24+ hours on the highway and Liberals were blaming Youngkin, who wasn't even Gov yet.
Now that he is Gov, and being proactively prepared, they are mocking him.
Idiots. https://t.co/4idZKzMGEr— sarainitaly 🇺🇸🇮🇹 (@sarainitaly) January 17, 2022
The last guy, Governor Blackface, did nothing two weeks ago. This is better. https://t.co/Xx5HFhiPVQ

After that mess on I-95 this is an appropriate response IMO. And I’m from Colorado…

Sorry, the standards for a "Virginia governor caught in embarrassing photo" headline are a little higher these days https://t.co/rDc4GuBAB4
— Jim Geraghty (@jimgeraghty) January 17, 2022
Well put. You should see this one photo of the previous governor.
Honestly I would respect any politician that had a sense of humor to recreate that photo for every single announcement.

You guys just can't make up your minds. Either he totally ignored a dangerous situation before he was governor or he's making too much of the situation now that he is. Oh wait I forgot he has an R next to his name

I'm so sorry this is happening to you. https://t.co/MrUNKBDYkv

Just keeping tweeting through this, my dude. I know this is a really difficult time for you.
— Curtis Houck (@CurtisHouck) January 17, 2022
Maybe the new guy just wants it made clear that he’s actually paying attention, considering recent events.
