Go with this: Democrats sit silently as Gov. Glenn Youngkin says he'll protect parents' rights to make decisions about their children

There were some pretty hot takes running up to the gubernatorial election in Virginia last fall. Juan Williams said that “parents’ rights” was just code for white race politics. Jennifer Berkshire, co-author of “A Wolf at the Schoolhouse Door: The Dismantling of Public Education and the Future of School,” tweeted that “parents’ rights” was “a centerpiece of a GOP that is increasingly hostile to public education AND democracy.” The assumption, apparently, was that it was those white suburban parents who ruined everything with their made-up concerns over their kids’ education; blacks don’t care what their kids are taught or exposed to, we guess.

There are also a lot of pretty hot takes that Glenn Youngkin’s “cheerful suburban dad” persona was just a facade hiding radical right-wing politics, like leaving it up to parents if their children wear masks to school. Democrats’ embrace of the teachers’ unions and disdain for involved parents cost Terry McAuliffe a lot of votes, but it looks like they’re sticking with that narrative. Watch as they sit silently as Youngkin reasserts parents’ rights to be involved in their children’s upbringing and education.

Seriously, cling to critical race theory, which you don’t believe is a real thing but will defend even if it costs you an election.

Democrats are just trying to protect children from the science deniers who want kids to die from COVID instead of learning about slavery.
