As Twitchy has reported, there’s some strong criticism of President Joe Biden’s “voting rights” speech in Atlanta Tuesday, in which he said you (and the Senate) can either be on the side of Dr. Martin Luther King or George Wallace. He also trailed off after saying it “seems like yesterday” that he was arrested during the civil rights movement, perhaps catching himself slipping into a lie again.
Never Trumper David French called the speech “unbelievably inflammatory,” recalling the time Biden accused Mitt Romney of wanting to put blacks “back in chains.” Democrat Sen. Dick Durbin told CNN’s Jake Tapper Wednesday that Biden perhaps “went a little too far in his rhetoric.”
These are people who voted for Biden telling him to dial it back a bit, but when White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki was asked about criticism of Biden’s speech, she responded that it was “hilarious on many levels.”

Jen Psaki says criticism of Biden’s speech bashing the Senate is “hilarious on many levels” because of what Trump did on January 6

Everything we do is fine because Trump. They’ll use it till the bitter end.

Always fascinated by the "what about Trump" defense from the people who ran on being the opposite of him in every way. https://t.co/arwvt07m1v

It's hilarious because a guy so eager to be on George Wallace's side that he made up a story about receiving an award from him now falsely claims he was arrested for marching for civil rights and anyone who opposes him stands with George Wallace.

Because a few hundred people rioted at the Capitol, that means you get to compare anyone who supports showing an ID to vote to Jefferson Davis and Bull Connor. Makes sense. https://t.co/7ksGXH1vzC

You can't criticize Jim Crow Joe's speech yesterday because of something that happened over a year ago. Unassailable logic. https://t.co/bJpVGlFzfQ

Okay to anyone paying attention, THIS is whataboutism.
"The GOP can't criticize Biden, because Trump and January 6th."
— Grab Your Popcorn (@furioustheguy) January 12, 2022
The very thing people warned would happen with Dems is happening. Equate any and all dissent with Jan. 6, no matter how minor.
Manchin and Sinema are now evil racists too.

I ain't got shit for a rebuttal, quick blame something on Trump. @PressSec
— Hypocrite Hunter (@HypocriteHunt16) January 12, 2022
Clearly disrespectful and condescending. She's part of the reason for Biden's horrendous poll ratings.
— Dennis 🇺🇸 (@Dennis_Klaman) January 12, 2022
.@PressSec is an embarrassment.
The former president never stood in front of the nation telling voters or politicians if they didn't go along with his policies they were evil.

When a sitting pres claims that those who don’t agree with him are bigots & racists, I wish I could go back to Nov 2020 & change my vote from Biden to whoever else was running besides Trump. He’s no longer trying to be a bridge to lessen divisiveness. He’s encouraging division.

But the norms, I was told, if we voted for Biden. https://t.co/T2kfASlrp6

Is Durbin a Trumpist because he thought Biden went a little too far? French?
