Gun control group Giffords Courage is out with its “Gun Law Trendwatch” for 2021, and gun law trends are not going their way. Thanks to state lawmakers in Texas and Iowa, they say, anyone can carry a concealed, loaded gun without training or a background check — which makes sense, because what would be the point of carrying a concealed, unloaded gun?
Training and safety are the pillars of responsible gun ownership, but you wouldn't know it looking at Texas and Iowa.

And New Hampshire. And Maine. And Arizona. And Vermont. And Alaska. And Arkansas. And Kansas. And Missouri. And Kentucky.

Just like AZ, the state you live in Gabby.
— Liquid Money Maker (@CantonGmetal) December 23, 2021
Isn’t it great that people in those states don’t have to beg government permission to use their natural rights? 😁
On a side note, most people who regularly carry also practice frequently, as weapons proficiency in an emergency is kind of the whole point of carrying…

I support constitutional carry.

Hmm… it's almost like it's a right.

Training and safety ARE the pillars of responsible gun ownership, Looking forward to @GiffordsCourage
supporting more public ranges and reducing back-door restrictions on ammunition to make it easier for people to train— Who Onfirst (@WhatOn2nd) December 23, 2021
where can we find training or safety classes from Giffords?
— thomasismyname2 (@thomasismyname3) December 23, 2021
Still waiting for you to post a training video….
— Zach Miller (@FuckZachMillz) December 23, 2021
I agree!
Could someone from your organization please send me a link to your safety class descriptions, schedules and locations along with any other training programs that you offer.
Would love to see information and attend!
Thanks in advance…— Hills Rancher (@RancherHills) December 23, 2021
Concealed carry training, from what I’ve heard, does very little to actually teach you how to properly handle a gun. Concealed carry licenses do next to nothing besides make gun owners have to go through more effort to legally carry.
— Bad Firearm Takes (@BadFirearmTakes) December 22, 2021
The “training” I received in MA was little more than a waste of 5 hours and $100
— Ryan Chapdelaine (@ChapdelaineRyan) December 23, 2021
So people don’t train on their own you need a nanny state to supervise? Good to know, maybe you should put some of that language and incentives to build ranges and fund training opportunities you could partner with @NRA ?
— Julian D Wynnyckyj (@jdwynnyckyj) December 23, 2021
Giffords Courage partnering with the NRA to make training more available? Let’s do it.
What Giffords wrongly assumes is that those who are choosing to carry are doing so on a whim or are brand new to guns. The truth is many are already part of the gun culture and are experienced, Most will seek out additional training when they decide to carry.
— John L. Lucci (@JohnLLucci) December 22, 2021
I never knew the folks at Giffords were such big advocates of people training with their firearms. Seems like most gun control organizations would rather eliminate local gun ranges and have ammo be so expensive that it's impossible for the average gun owner to train.
— oofbaby223 (@hanson2321) December 23, 2021
Then why do you advocate for an ammunition tax that makes it harder to train?
— Regalasshat (@regalasshat) December 22, 2021
You don't need training to own or carry a gun safely. You need to 1) control its accessibility, and 2) not point it anything you are unwilling to shoot. Period.
— Ben Shapiro (@brewpats) December 23, 2021
I know how little you know about guns and training.
I know how much I already train.
I don’t accept that you or your ilk are qualified to tell me what level of proficiency I “need” in order for you to feel comfortable with me carrying a gun. pic.twitter.com/0xLc7EbcxJ

Background checks are performed at FFL point of sale so that's a lie.
— not your daddy's shotgun (@KurtSchatzl) December 22, 2021
Kinda need a background check to purchase a firearm from an FFL and it’s already illegal to sell somebody a gun privately who isn’t allowed to own one so …. your point ?
— Dylan Arlaus (@DylanArlaus1) December 23, 2021
A background check is required to purchase the weapon. Stop lying already.
— InFreedomITrust (@jeffries_edgar) December 23, 2021
You are lying about background checks, but you know that.

This might be the most spectacular self-own that Twitter has ever seen. @GiffordsCourage just admitted, with some well designed graphics, how badly they are losing to freedom…

— Name cannot be blank (@NICKRITZER) December 23, 2021
Training and safety are the pillars of responsible speech, but you wouldn't know it looking at Texas and Iowa.
Thanks to state lawmakers, now anyone can say anything or vote without training or a background check. See how tyrannical you sound.
— TX-SoL (@TX_SonofLiberty) December 23, 2021
Just replace the phrase "gun ownership" with "voting" and tell me again how you'd feel?
— Your Tribalism Sucks (@TribalismYour) December 23, 2021
People are right: if Giffords Courage thinks training is so important, it should offer training.
