First, a disclaimer: We don’t understand this tweet from CNN’s Kevin Liptak. President Biden had said Tuesday that Sen. Joe Manchin told a liberal caucus in the House that “Joe Biden didn’t mislead you, I misled you.” But later, the White House followed up by clarifying that Manchin did not characterize himself as having been misleading.
So Biden’s anecdote was just made up?
After Biden said today that Manchin "was speaking to a liberal caucus in the House and said 'Joe Biden didn't mislead you, I misled you,'" the White House follows up: "The President wanted to clarify that Senator Manchin did not characterize himself as having been ‘misleading.'

'the president wanted to clarify that he made that whole thing up' is not a dream statement for comms to have to issue https://t.co/dfaw1acKdE

Biden fabricated a story (he lied). Very on brand.

Is he going to last the full term?

This has to be the most confusing clarification I've ever read. Can we get a clarification on the White House's clarification? https://t.co/MSxAs6ICQm

It seems like that's not a clarification as much as it's an admission that he lied or made something up.

So Biden lied

So Biden just made it up? Good lord. Article 25 anyone? It's getting worse every day.

We may need a little more color than that on this entire bizarre invented occurrence that the President shared from the White House podium. https://t.co/Kibj3UU4PQ

The president wanted to clarify … and ended up not clarifying anything, except for the scenario that he made the whole story up.
