Photos don’t always come across well on Twitter, but here is a series of photos taken of downtown San Francisco by a woman who describes herself in her Twitter bio as a moderate liberal. As we all know, the leadership of San Francisco is anything but moderate. District Attorney Chesa Boudin a year ago argued against cash bail by citing Kyle Rittenhouse’s bail despite the “strong evidence” of “racial bias committing a double murder.” Just last month, a progressive prosecutor quit, calling Boudin a “sinking ship.” There’s a recall effort underway.
In any case, here’s a tour of San Francisco:
This is what downtown San Francisco looks like right now.

I have no words right now to convey the shock and disappointment I feel towards our local government.
My hands are trembling I am so angry at our leaders.
This is their doing.

Boarded windows > broken windows.
This is what happens when the criminal justice system doesn't work.
San Francisco has become lawless and residents and businesses are going into self-protection mode.
The stats are fictitious. Nobody reports. People are hunkering down.

We are all over the news.
A shiny example of what a progressive-run city looks like.
I believe our government is more akin to a regime than a body of public servants.
San Franciscans — this is our doing. It's up to us to reverse the trend.
— Michelle Tandler (@michelletandler) November 29, 2021
If you are bothered by the direction of things, get involved.
Read San Fransicko, get on Twitter, engage with your neighbors, talk to local business owners.
This is going to take years to turn around…
First up, recalls.

These are all from today?
Yes.
My PT cancelled on me so I went for a short drive.
These were all taken within a 5 block radius at around 10:30am.

This reminds us of the time Brian Stelter got all pissy over someone saying New York, following rioting last summer, looked “shattered by thuggery.” He was very offended and let us all know that the plywood was starting to come down and they’d replaced his neighborhood’s trash can which rioters were using to set fires.
Everything is fine, this is just fine.

As a student, I loved killing time at Borders Books before a movie, buying DVDs at the Virgin Megastore or Rasputin Records, or pulling late nights studying at the 24-hour Starbucks — all at Union Square. I live a 10-minute walk from it now and it feels like I'm in a war zone.

Yes – I have many childhood memories of going ice skating there & seeing families holiday shopping.
Union Square used to be packed with shoppers this time of year. Now it's a ghost town.
Incredibly sad and a huge shame for the stores, their employees, and our city.
— Michelle Tandler (@michelletandler) November 29, 2021
Ugh. This makes me sad.

Looks very similar to Portland.

Retail friendly city 😂

The fruits of a progressive government. Will see if the local residents vote for change.

Smash and grab is accelerating the demise of walk-in retail shopping. If there's no penalty for theft, no insurance company will take the risk. No local businesses, less tax base, fewer jobs, a sure way to make a community poorer.

It doesnt really make much sense continuing to operate retail in San Francisco. The deck is stacked against business owners.

Woke.

One difference I saw moving from Seattle to San Diego was not a difference in homeless. It is a difference in lawlessness.
Namely, SD cops still enforce laws. Seattle (along w SF and PDX) does not.

This is what they voted for. Let them live with their decision
— George AP (@georgeAPa) November 29, 2021
This is what you wanted. No one will have a business in a lawless wasteland

What would Seth Rogen say? Oh yeah, “It’s called living in a big city.” Totally normal.
Buy the ticket, ride the ride.
