The buzz around former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo was so hot at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic that some people were suggesting the Democrats swap out Joe Biden for Cuomo for the presidential race. As you know, he won an Emmy for his televised COVID updates. But now, in November of 2021, Politico is reporting on the “ridiculous demands” and “impossible requests” that were coming out of the governor’s COVID war room.
While Andrew Cuomo projected calm during his daily public briefings, with thousands dying as the virus ravaged New York City, public health officials were forced to find ways to work around him https://t.co/EkHeqITvV1

Politico reports:
Cuomo, who resigned in August, is facing renewed scrutiny over his response to the pandemic, including allegations that he downplayed Covid deaths while writing a pandemic memoir that netted him more than $5 million. New POLITICO interviews with several former state Department of Health officials, along with a trove of government documents released this month, suggest the former governor’s behavior behind closed doors was in direct contrast to the science-first, hyper-competent image Cuomo presented in his Emmy-winning 2020 press conferences.
…
In her interview with the attorney general’s office, [Elizabeth] Dufort described “a toxic work environment” in which state Health Department staff were not allowed to collaborate with their counterparts in the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene or other local health departments. The governor’s office would also arbitrarily override certain metrics, like which regions qualified for various Covid “zones,” which Cuomo used to delineate the level of reopening restrictions in certain regions of the state. And the office had ordered Department of Health staff to share incomplete data on Hydroxychloroquine with the White House. Both things, Dufort said, raised ethical concerns at the department.
“And the office had ordered Department of Health staff to share incomplete data on Hydroxychloroquine with the White House.” Huh.
Where was this story 18 months ago?

Amazing how the MSM facilitated the coverup and propped up Cuomo as the savior.

And you guys helped him

You told us he was America's boyfriend.
— Perry Bullock (@PerryBullock) November 27, 2021
Oh no … that tweet reminded us of people declaring themselves “Cuomosexuals.”
180 turn around from how he was portrayed just a short time ago.

This story is 18 months late. You had a chance to do this right the first time and instead gave this man an emmy. The only reason its coming now is because your bosses said it's ok to attack this man now.

Great reporting 2 years too late.
— Gurgun (@Gurgun1989) November 27, 2021
But the media told me he was the gold standard on how to deal with COVID!?!
— NeVeRMoRe (@Bird_or_Devil) November 27, 2021
And the entire NY media helped cover it up, even suggesting he run for President against Trump.

Amazing how the tone of the coverage changes when they’re no longer useful to The Party. You serve your master well.
— Silence Dogood (@lordthx1139) November 27, 2021
And the entire media enabled him.
— Taro Tsujimoto (@RCannon74) November 27, 2021
Politico is acting like they didn’t cheerlead for Cuomo last year and treat him like the paragon of competence and leadership 😂
— Emmanuel Goldstein 🇺🇸 (@GoldsteinEman) November 27, 2021
But he won an Emmy? It’s like the media was lying to me? How is that?
— MichaelFCheng (@smugminion215) November 28, 2021
Where were you people?
— Jake Gallagher (@JakeGal34342503) November 27, 2021
The media was complicit in all of Cuomo’s crimes. pic.twitter.com/sK0spDJF0g
— Eric Martin (@ericmartintx) November 27, 2021
Oh. You’re only just discovering this? Now you can try to call yourselves journalists with hard hitting coverage AFTER he resigned.

Me waiting for the libs that I told 18 months ago that Cuomo‘s handling of the virus was the worst in the nation, to reach out and apologize. pic.twitter.com/Bd2uXmK5nj

@JRubinBlogger you see this, this is the man you simped over for a whole year.

Wow. Covering news that right wing media reported a year ago. Well done. Our media is in great shape. Keep protecting the ruling class you hacks. You are as worthless as you are corrupt. #EnemyOfThePeople
— TenaciousDFS (@TenaciousAsFook) November 27, 2021
This was all extremely obvious in real time to those of us with functioning brains and no evil ulterior motives. The media was 100% complicit in his crimes.
— CommonSenseGuy (@MattDam21504739) November 27, 2021
Why would Ron DeSantis do this
— The Wilkes Booth Project (@Project_JWBooth) November 27, 2021
So Politico is saying that Cuomo wasn’t the gold standard when it came to handling the coronavirus? What a shock.
