Here’s a curveball — normally we’d be expecting NBC News (and all the other mainstream outlets) doing stories on the problematic name of the Atlanta Braves and fans’ use of the “tomahawk chop.” Instead, NBCBLK is serving up a story on how the World Series is highlighting “the glaring lack” of black players on both teams, as well as Major League Baseball in general.
As the World Series plays out this weekend between the Atlanta Braves and Houston Astros, the glaring lack of Black players on both teams, and MLB in general, is not lost on up-and-coming Black players. – @NBCBLK https://t.co/n75QeKVYPf

You might enjoy the game more if you counted the score instead of races

Hey I have an idea because we need views. Let’s make everything about race.

There is also a lack of Amish people in @NASCAR

Great point, now do basketball.

Now talk about the NBA

Now do the NBA and NFL

What about the glaring lack of white players in NFL & NBA?
— Herd Immunity (@RCharlton1966) October 31, 2021
I’m glad someone is finally raising this. I have the same reaction about the lack of Asian and Latinx players in the @NBA . We need to start taking equity and diversity seriously, now!

Last night's starting lineups featured four Afro-Caribbean players: Maldonado and Alvarez on the Astros; Soler and Albies on the Braves. If that's not Black, I don't know what is.

Jorge Soler is Cuban, he's the blackest player on either team.

Did I miss the part where the Astros have a pretty diverse team, all the way to the manager?

Take a broader look at all sport, there's a fairly broad racial distribution across the whole, just not evenly distributed. It's mostly choice and/or aptitude steers individuals into specific sports. Success tends to draw people from similar backgrounds to take up similar sports.

Are you looking for black players or minorities? Because there are plenty of minorities playing in MLB.
Why is it so important to have black players in MLB? You think an owner will let black players sit if they have a chance to win it all?

According to Colin Kaepernick’s new Netflix special, the NFL draft is like the slave trade and all the players are black.
What an unbelievably weird tweet

Should there be a quota or something? Is this a “problem” that needs to be fixed?
