Democratic Florida gubernatorial candidate is claiming that Gov. Ron DeSantis is going after the safety of parents who just want to protect their kids, but at the same time, he’s vowing to thwart the Department of Justice looking into these “violent extremists” — who are, presumably, parents trying to protect their children.
Let me be 💯 clear. @GovRonDeSantis is going after the safety of parents, school officials and teachers who just want to protect our kids.
All while vowing to “thwart” the DOJ looking into these violent extremists
We need change. https://t.co/VSLBcUVnr6

Fried has retweeted a piece from WFTV:
DeSantis said the direction of the Department of Justice to mobilize the FBI to investigate parents who are speaking out against mask mandates is an infringement on First Amendment rights.
He said the state will protect parents’ rights to vocalize their concerns.
“We’re not going to be cooperating with any federal investigation into parents,” DeSantis said.
DeSantis said local law enforcement are able to handle any issues that do arrive and don’t need federal investigators to intervene.
As Twitchy reported, Attorney General Merrick Garland sent a memo to the FBI asking them to coordinate efforts with local law enforcement in the face of threats against school board members after a request by the National School Boards Association, which suggested some parents are involved in domestic terrorism.
Fried’s tweet also comes the same day we’re learning about a 7-year-old girl with Down syndrome having a mask tied to her head against her will.
Let me be 💯clear- the rights of taxpayers and /or parents, across this country, in regards to the safety and the education of children is more important than your party’s aggressive agenda against our rights to speak out.

Let me be 💯 clear. You or any politician will NOT tell my wife and I how involved we can/can’t be in our children’s education. Rest assured we will be watching like hawks to make sure they get the education they deserve and not being used as political puppets.

Let me be 💯 clear. Suffocating a child by tying a mask to her face with nylon rope isn’t protection—it is abuse. Hearing Sofia’s dad in Titusville today was heartbreaking. Parents have every right to speak out against injustice. Shame on the school board member for ignoring him.

"violent extremists" 🤣🤣🤣
— Chris El Trunalimunumaprzure (@vorbs68) October 20, 2021
The only violent extremists here are the school employees who think it is okay to tie a mask to a child’s face so she cannot breathe.
— Christina Pushaw (@ChristinaPushaw) October 20, 2021
So, you're against taxpaying parents having a say when teachers abuse students. Got it.
— Jacob Airey (@realJacobAirey) October 20, 2021
You try so hard but fail. Any violence will be handled by local law enforcement, as was made very clear in the press conference.
— Kambree (@KamVTV) October 20, 2021
Wrong. Parents have the choice to do what they feel necessary to protect their child. Teachers can get vaccinated or wear a mask if they feel it necessary for their own protection. Local law enforcement is more than capable of responding to any threats.

The federal government has no authority to do any of this.

The one thing I'm clear on, is that if this is truly your interpretation of what gov is trying to accomplish here, you should look into counceling. This is the take of a disturbed, deranged individual. Seriously, it's borderline fanatical.

The best part about Nikki is she’s got no clue how real Florida thinks. She’s so immersed in MSNBC clan and Twitterverse that she’s completely ignored real Florida.
— Florida Grand (@florida_grand) October 20, 2021
You're the extremist, Nikki.

Came here for the ratio, left satisfied.

DeSantis believes local law enforcement is sufficient to deal with any threats to school officials and staff.
