It was up to CENTCOM’s Gen. Kenneth McKenzie to address the press today and call an official end to the U.S. military presence in Afghanistan. The commander-in-chief did issue a statement Monday praising the “unparalleled results” of the airlift of Afghan refugees and American citizens. We always knew the Biden administration would frame this bug-out as a great victory, even though President Biden assured us we wouldn’t be seeing images like those of the fall of Saigon.
The president will address the nation Tuesday afternoon.
President Biden will address the nation on the Afghanistan withdrawal at 1:30pm EDT tomorrow.

He’ll reportedly address the hundreds of Americans who weren’t able to make it to the airport for those last flights out before the Taliban’s deadline, saying that it was a unanimous recommendation.
Biden: “Tomorrow afternoon I’ll address the American ppl on my decision not to extend our presence in Afghanistan beyond Aug 31. For now, I’ll report it was the unanimous recommendation of the Joint Chiefs & all our commanders on the ground to end our airlift mission as planned.” pic.twitter.com/xgmWSzn1n1

On this I can see the bug out recommendation *if* the security situation is deteriorating and the commanders know they won’t be given authority to repair the situation. At that point it becomes save as many as you can but get out now.

I'm shocked he didn't manage to get something about Beau in there.🙄
