Drew Holden pulled the receipts the other day of all the media outlets that labeled the suggestion that the coronavirus leaked from the Wuhan Institute of Virology a “conspiracy theory” that had been debunked. That was a year ago; last week, they began reporting that scientists were calling for further inquiry into the origin of the coronavirus. Even Dr. Anthony Fauci reversed himself over the weekend and suggested COVID-19 could have come from a lab and called for an investigation.
Sen. Tom Cotton took the most grief in 2020 for repeating that debunked conspiracy theory that even PolitiFact has removed from its database in light of new information. He also thought there was a lesson for the media tucked in there somewhere.
One lesson for the media is that self-interested denials from the Chinese Communist Party do not equal "debunking." pic.twitter.com/awYnmSS01A

Exactly.

This would be funnier if it weren't so true.

When you trust the CCP more than one of your own senators, which side are you on? This seems to be true for the media as a whole

They don't care if what they're saying is true, Tom.

When mainstream media call a narrative "debunked" there is usually a lot of truth to it.

The media hate Tom Cotton because he owns them.

They can deny all they want – it was in the back of everyone’s mind from the very beginning.

I'll need LeBron James to weigh in before I can reach a conclusion.

I don't think they know what debunking means.

What’s the likelihood of a retraction?

These people are shameless.

You were right. About everything

Another lesson would be for journalists to do their damn jobs.

And the media wonders why a sizeable portion of the population will always assume that the opposite of what the media reports is true.

Media will not learn this lesson and will never be held accountable. Their blatant corruption has become a scourge on a critical profession.

Let us see the outlet. Name the names. These liars in the media working on behalf of the DNC need to be exposed and humiliated, over and over.
— Rachel E 🇺🇸 (@REPsmile) May 25, 2021
That was the Washington Post, but we don’t think they’re capable of being humiliated.
