With everything else pretty much taken care of, President Biden got a chance Tuesday to test-drive Ford’s new electric pickup, the F-150 Lightning, through an empty parking lot.

Reporters learned that that sucker is quick, but Matt Viser says that when reporters asked if he could field a couple of questions about Israel, Biden answered, “No, you can’t.” That is, unless they wanted to pull an Antifa and jump on the hood.
As Biden was test driving a Ford 150, reporters asked if they could inquire about Israel.
“No, you can’t,” he said, via pooler @AlexThomp. “Not unless you get in front of the car as I step on it. I’m only teasing.”
Biden said: “Okay, here we go ready?”
And then he floored it.

Of all the days to make that joke, he picked the absolute worst possible day.

Interesting look at Biden's vision of American leadership on the world stage.

So, @POTUS Biden refused to answer a question about it. Got it.

Hard hitting journalism i see….Imagine the shreiking if Trump had done this…

Hey @oliverdarcy, we still doing that thing where a President threatening a reporter, even in jest, is attempted murder with serious 1st Amendment ramifications that must be discussed for 3 days and dominate your newsletter?

Biden joking about running down a reporter for asking about Israel in an F-150 truck is a pretty good tell about just how performative the "how dare he" fainting spells of the past 4 years actually were.

Trump definitely did some trial ballooning by saying things half jokingly but yes, lots of controversies around comments he made were this type of humor that all presidents engage in. https://t.co/oYWiBGhemP

I'm trying to recall any comment where Trump came close to saying/joking about mowing down a journalist in a truck for asking a question.

But it is the new normal, and everyone seems fine with it.
Let’s focus on the positive here: each of those journalists can now say they know someone who drives a truck.

Update:
Here’s video:

“Biden was asked by reporters if it was possible to ask a question about Israel: Absolutely not, unless you stand in front of the vehicle while I press the accelerator.”
