According to a survey of 2,000 people, one in three Brits admitted to washing their bedsheets just once a year, while 30 percent wash blankets only once a year and 18 percent admitted to washing their jeans annually. Metro, which published a story on the survey, calls the results “gross.”

That prompted a self-described “ally” with a Planned Parenthood avatar and the pronouns he/him/his to weigh in on Americans’ obsession with washing clothes.
Washing clothes and sheets waste a ton of water. Wash items less. Why is the US obsessed with constantly cleaning?
— Ted Cruz Is the Worst (@skipflash50) April 30, 2021
Stop. I feel shamed for being an American wanting…[CHECKS NOTES] to be clean.
— Okay. (@corrcomm) May 1, 2021
Because not smelling like ass, is a good thing.
— Dan Brady (@DB_Voluntary87) April 30, 2021
I like sleeping on clean sheets when I have had a shower, bubble bath, etc. I don’t understand why that seems odd.
— Velda Rene (Not Renee) Burns ?? (@singlblessed7) April 30, 2021
I wash and clean as much as needed because I don’t want to look or feel dirty
— Dana ❤️??? (@Daisyks12) May 1, 2021
That's disgusting.
I'm a total slob and at least I was them several times per year.
— Yeet (@Alicauni1) April 30, 2021
Because we don’t like getting sick, smoothbrain.
— Darth Autismus ? ☂️ (@DarthAutismus) May 1, 2021
I thought we liked proper hygiene?

Uh, we're still living in a pandemic
— TheCuntess (@MadameCuntess) April 30, 2021
This coming after a year and a half of being told cleanliness is essential to stay healthy. Interesting

We'd like to avoid bringing on the Black Plague 2.0?

Nor does water just magically disappear.

A common misconception is that our ancestors came to America to avoid religious persecution but it was mostly to get away from the smell.

I can smell the patchouli and wild onions emanating from that retweet.
— Johnny Lawrence Did Nothing Wrong (@LeeRogz) May 1, 2021
First they make us use washing machines that use a tiny bit of water, then they moan it’s too much. Yes there is a water crisis out west and in some parts of the world, but it isn’t because of climate change, it’s because of idiotic policy!
— Jan Galt (@chump24042266) May 1, 2021
“30% admitted to washing bedding just once a year, a habit which experts say can lead to bacteria build-ups, itchy skin, & mites.”
“Dr Aragona Giuseppe, GP & Medical Advisor at Prescription Doctor claims that changing your bed sheets once a week is best for optimum cleanliness.”— LdubEllis (@LdubEllis) April 30, 2021
Optimum cleanliness is a luxury not affordable for all.
— Ted Cruz Is the Worst (@skipflash50) April 30, 2021
Then the only solution is to do away with it.
Is that a real question? Being clean is not an obsession.

How is it wasting water? It all gets recycled anyways.
— Hanson Cox (@_cox_ronald_) May 1, 2021
I think you don't understand how Water Works. It's not like the water disappears. The Water gets sent to a treatment plant so that other people can use it. The water doesn't just go away. pic.twitter.com/8PSIQE5aFu

You filthy animal.
— Pepe (@Eagleeye7361) May 1, 2021
..because in first world countries water is so abundant we water our grass and wash our vehicles with it as well.
Build dams and water systems and you too can bathe more often.
— Blad (@Honeybladger) May 1, 2021
So you’re justifying being a slob? HE front loaders don’t really use that much water. The US is obsessed with cleaning because we don’t want to be a bunch of stanky hoes, which you obviously don’t have a problem with.
— Sam (@specialestness) April 30, 2021
You're right. In one of our poorest states, people should just use their front loading washer, and jump into a clean bed after their long soak in the tub. What else would they do with their money?
— Ted Cruz Is the Worst (@skipflash50) April 30, 2021
So it’s a class issue? Poor Americans are obsessed with being clean, but they just can’t afford it.
Because we can and because we do not like to be covered in filth and disease. It’s all available thanks to capitalism and the standards that we have set here in the US. Even those in poverty want to be clean.
— Beth J (@Beth_J_) May 1, 2021
Well there’s that thing called basic hygiene.
— nancy (@nancyswoketruth) April 30, 2021
Because we don't like smelling like Paris.

Why are leftists obsessed with telling people how to live their lives?
— 3% less white William F. Buckley (@i_publius1788) May 1, 2021
Changing the linens once a week is hardly obsessive. I assume you’ll make a case for how their way is better?
