Scott Adams has brought our attention to yet another attempt to solve the homeless crisis in California. This one is a crowdfunded effort with the ultimate goal being the construction of an entire city for the homeless, complete with a hospital, movie theater, parks, and an onsite hotel for visiting family members — essentially the same amenities as any city of 150,000 people would have.

The project is the brainchild of Citizens Again, and about those underground tunnels; according to the GoFundMe site set up for the project, those will be the means by which deliveries can be made and city workers can commute to job sites in order to “minimize disruption of citizen life.”
"A GoFundMe effort with a goal of $50,000 for the proposed city had raised just $60 as of Thursday."
— Razor (@hale_razor) December 21, 2019
We just checked — it’s up to $670.
$50,000 would not pay for a porta potty, which would not be used anyway.
— Bill O'Rights (@NewLepanto) December 21, 2019
So 12 billion.

In before everyone I know becomes homeless in LA.
Sounds wonderful.
Until you know *homeless* in southern CA through work or other experience. Almost entirely drug addicted or outside by choice. Most I've met REFUSE all shelter and services. Caltrans friends confirm.

?♂️ the actual housing of homeless people is the tiniest fraction of what is causing the homeless crisis
— The Ghost who Smirks (@AusPhantom) December 21, 2019
You're dealing with people that cannot handle the most basic day to day tasks.
This plan would require a city's worth of competent staff to maintain.— Troy Sa (@TroySa80) December 21, 2019
This will end well.

Underground tunnels? pic.twitter.com/6rBDhxakEc
— Greg (@RoninGreg) December 21, 2019
There will be tents in those tunnels.
— Erik (@alvietime) December 21, 2019
There will be something else in that tunnel as well. lol

Disease. You forgot to mention the disease that will follow.

This is obviously the initial scene of a Hollywood disaster film's script.

This would turn into an "Escape From New York" scenario rather quickly.

Soooo projects. Got it
— Q7ock (@Quantum7ock) December 21, 2019
Hasn’t this already been tried? – they were called “the projects” before if I remember correctly. They would be smarter to deal with mental illness
— Rob D (@dueckman123) December 21, 2019
The "projects" in Chicago re-designed for Sunny Southern CA. Socialism/collectivism/communism in disguise. It says there will be opportunity to develop job skills and a pathway to work and self-sufficiency, but somehow I doubt it.
— Nattalia (@NattaliaNealls) December 21, 2019
They had one of these in Chicago. It was called Cabrini Green and it became best known as the backdrop to movie Candyman.
Because it was a HORROR show.

They seem to think that if they make homelessness easier, less people will be homeless.
— Galloway (@leegallowaysin1) December 21, 2019
That is a very large, very expensive project that will make a lot of people very good wages and commissions getting it built.
Since the “homeless” largely suffer from addictions and mental health challenges, I don’t see how this works after it is built.

— Habitual Oaf (@ThatHabitualOaf) December 21, 2019
That’s the spirit!
Pile them under ground in an earthquake zone so the Hollywood starlets and the elites don’t have to see the degradation of the human condition. All we are missing is those people coming up and snatching one of them to bring them down below.
— ?Paddy O’Dhonnabhain? (@ODhonnabhain) December 21, 2019
So this would be a perfect opportunity for M. Bloomberg to throw less than 10% of his wealth into a worthwhile homeless experiment AND prove to ALL conservatives that this is the direction America needs to be headed towards.
— politically_matt (@MattPolitically) December 21, 2019
I have a much less costly plan. Let all the Hollywood liberals like @Alyssa_Milano, who love to virtue signal on Twitter and are so giving when it comes to other people's money, take in the homeless to live in their homes. No doubt they have plenty of spare bedrooms.
— Winston Smith (@JoPauCor) December 21, 2019
I agree. I think a law should be passed that all actors & silicon valley business people who make over a million a year will need to take in and care for 2 homeless individuals. until they can get back on their feet. Problem solved
