This is somewhat refreshing in that CNN’s media watchdog Brian Stelter is complaining about Bill O’Reilly rather than Fox News. It seems that President Trump gave an interview to Bill O’Reilly, who was then able to pass it off to his site’s “premium members.”
How pro-Trump media backscratching works: Trump gives an interview to Bill O'Reilly. Then O'Reilly promotes it for a day and says his site's "premium members" will get "first access." So Trump gets a platform / O'Reilly gets relevance & a way to promote his subscription service.

This is like explaining breathing…I don't get what the revelation is here…?
How Twitter works: you type words on a screen and press Tweet and then others read those words.
And sometimes the words are news, and sometimes they are boring and state the obvious.— RealityChick (@CheckCheckity) November 27, 2019
My kids really want to see Frozen 2. They are promoting it quite a bit. We went to the theater and they wanted us to pay to get in. Seems totally unfair.
— John Rhodes (@jkrhodes0719) November 28, 2019
Celebrity gives an interview on the Tonight Show. Tonight Show promotes it and sells ads because people want to see celebrity. Celebrity gets a platform to push their movie. Scandal!
— Tobin Sparfeld (@tobinsparfeld) November 27, 2019
I wonder if CNN ever advertises what is coming up on their service to increase viewership by claiming an exclusive? Seems that is the way promotion works.
— Mac Davis (@mac1davis) November 27, 2019
Isn't this how they all do it? Doesn't CNN promote their Trump hit pieces?
— Brian Cartwright (@blcartwright) November 27, 2019
You mean like Jake Tapper’s “All the President’s Lies”? We saw that promoted quite a bit.
Same way anti-Trump media does it. Still capitalizing on Trump, still giving him a platform.
— Patrik Opacic ???? (@PatrikOpacic) November 27, 2019
Continuing his streak as the least self-aware journalist in the business, Brian fails to recognize that CNN gave us Trump by having him on non-stop until he was elected.
— Austere Scholar Mike (@MikeLawry126) November 27, 2019
Imagine how furious Brian's going to be when he finds out how many hours of Trump's empty podium CNN aired during the 2016 primary. https://t.co/eda49YPju1

Narrator: That's how all subscription based media works.
— Jeffrey James (@Jasta1985) November 27, 2019
Really hard to make this argument when all the major left leaning print journalism sites like @washingtonpost and @nytimes have paywalls.
— Tim Stoner (@timothystoner) November 26, 2019
On the flip side my cables bill dollars support your non premium platform that I can't even unsubscribe from!
— Greg G (@Gwg1955) November 27, 2019
Isn’t cable a subscription based company? Also they charge outlandish fees to us middle class people so the rich like CNN can benefit… what’s that called?
— AlliJoe (@tpsofgaffney) November 27, 2019
And people only get your channel if they subscribe to a cable or streaming service. Your point? ?
— real_sgafan (@real_sgafan) November 28, 2019
You have to pay for a cable subscription and sit through ads anyway in order to watch CNN’s big shows like “Reliable Sources.”

Maybe, and just hear me out, if you treated the President with any sort of any measurable amount of respect on any single topic at any time over the past 3-4 years he would offer an interview with your network
Keep pushing that impeachment story without any proof

This isn't a story, and there's nothing wrong here. It's a subscription-based media service.

You still have exclusive access to Michael Avenatti and Richard Spencer.

Wait, an outlet finds timely, accurate content of interest to it's audience, promotes content, then request a fee from consumers of this service… what fresh hell?
The barbarians truly are at the gate.

Some "BOMBSHELL" insight right there.
— Paul Hurst (@pnhurst) November 28, 2019
Brian, don’t quit. You’re onto a big story: Trump’s reverse attempted bribery. Remember Watergate – follow the premium memberships.

That’s literally how media works.
