As Twitchy reported earlier this week, around 680 illegal aliens were detained following workplace raids across Mississippi, and Fox News’ Shepard Smith was not at all happy to report that news. It should come as a surprise to no one that when an adult is detained, his or her kids aren’t sent to the prison cell with mom or dad but taken into protective custody.
Rep. Ilhan Omar went so far as to allege that ICE was not only “orphaning” these children; it was targeting Hispanics just days after a white supremacist had targeted Hispanics in a mass shooting in El Paso.
The separated children have received plenty of press coverage; well, more accurately, one little 12-year-old girl in a pink shirt has received plenty of press coverage — she seems to be in every press photo and video clip. And she’s also in the photo MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell shared, asking if Trump voters felt anything because their votes had caused these children to suffer.
Dear Trump Voters,
What do you feel when you see these photos of suffering children and realize your votes caused this agony? Do you feel anything? pic.twitter.com/ZgCrLDmfwu— Lawrence O'Donnell (@Lawrence) August 8, 2019
I like when the laws our representative passed are enforced and criminals are prosectued. Why do you hate those things, Hammerboy? https://t.co/VNvhWiVAVN
— Kurt Schlichter (@KurtSchlichter) August 10, 2019
I'm laughing at you because when the Obama Administration put children in cages you were praising him for being a great President.
That's how I feel, clown.

I feel good in knowing:
1. Most of those arrested were released so they could be home when their kids got out of school.
2. Maybe, just maybe, there is now a job available for AMERICAN CITIZENS.
3. I recognize when you Media Mutts are trying to advance your anti-Trump narrative.— J.C. Pennington (@Shark_Four) August 9, 2019
1. We have no idea where this picture was taken or if these are the children of illegal aliens in custody.
2. Do those children look like they are suffering? Seriously? It's the goddam nicest concentration camp I've ever seen. The boys look like they have been very well fed.
— BayAreaFrau (@bayareahausfrau) August 10, 2019
The kid in the red shirt does seem to be enjoying his pizza.
3. Of course, we all feel bad for any child that is suffering, but no more for these children that the millions in our own country living in far worse conditions than what you've displayed here.
4. Your virtue signalling is old and tired.
— BayAreaFrau (@bayareahausfrau) August 10, 2019
I'm not their parents.
Their parents are the only ones responsible, plus any traffickers involved.
You're outlandish guilt trips don't work on us, save them for your sheeple libs.— Silence is Consent!⭐⭐⭐ (@NoSilentConsent) August 9, 2019
I feel NOTHING for self induced drama ..
I know what illegal means
— B-STRILLA?? (@1bstrilla) August 9, 2019
These kids aren't suffering and my vote had nothing to do with this. Maybe you should ask yourself those questions…
— William J. Woodhull (@WJW440) August 10, 2019
1- What kind of an asshole reporter would get in a child's face to take a picture of them crying?
And 2… the boys in the back are really having a great time with their pizza.
— Tim Young (@TimRunsHisMouth) August 10, 2019
We were sincerely wondering: Are reporters really supposed to be putting the children of illegals on national TV and interviewing them if their parents are in custody and unable to give consent? Because they certainly weren’t shy about it.
What do you Democrat voters feel when you see these children who will be without their dad forever. An illegal alien took their daddy away FOREVER.
Realize that your vote caused this agony. Do you feel anything? pic.twitter.com/Hl0OYTJUxE— kerry ⭐⭐⭐ ?? (@K1erry) August 10, 2019
I feel you're an idiot.
— JWF (@JammieWF) August 10, 2019
It’s hard to believe such a statement comes from a grown man.
— @Brenda (@bjmccaughey1) August 8, 2019
What suffering….seems they have food and drink with a roof over their heads…..don’t blame us for the stupidity of their parents.
— Conservativ American (@JustConservativ) August 10, 2019
I feel anger at their parents for putting them in this situation. I feel anger that the left only care for noncitizens. I feel anger over your asinine gaslighting and fanning the flames of hate.
— ??⭐️⭐️⭐️fed up californian?♀️?? ?? (@UpInTheHills) August 8, 2019
I think maybe we should have built a wall sooner, I feel maybe Obama shouldn’t put them in cages. Maybe their parents should have thought twice about bringing them here illegally
— Space Woman Spiff ??? (@BellaPelosi) August 10, 2019
Yes, we feel rage at an incompetent Congress who would rather exploit these children for political points than pass meaningful immigration reform.
We also feel disgust watching a drive-by media use these poor kids as propaganda against the president to manipulate people.— StrangerThanThings (@ShaolinKungFu81) August 10, 2019
A) You really should've gone with a different pic. The fat kids chillin' with their pizza really dulls the impact.
B) No more than I would if their parents were US citizens arrested for some other crime.
— KelbPanthera (@KelbPanthera) August 9, 2019
I see children eating food that homeless Americans would love to have access to. I also see someone providing own context to a picture that may be highly inaccurate. Compare the cleanliness in this photo to what you see in the streets of NYC, LA, SF, MSP…
— Honor and Freedom (@HonorandF) August 10, 2019
I'd feel so happy we were able to feed and shelter them, as shown in photo.
— J Owen Shroyer (@allidoisowen) August 9, 2019
Parents know the consequences of breaking the law by illegally crossing. Yet they put their own families in jeopardy. They have themselves to blame. What about the permanent separation of #AngelFamilies ??? #LatinosForTrump2020 @WeAreAmericanos
— Mayra Gtz (@mgtz1995) August 10, 2019
I feel the same way as I did when the cops came to my brother's house and arrested him for grand larceny in front of his boys. It was regrettable but he shouldn't have broken the law. There were no news crew there to generate sympathy for them designed to let him get away with it
— ?✈️USAF Retired ?? (@RenoNVSparky) August 10, 2019
People, American citizens, are arrested every day and taken away from their kids. It happens when one commits a crime. Yet, somehow, we are supposed to give illegals a pass. "For the children". The left is always concerned about the children when they make a good prop.
— Bonnie Blue (@BonnieBlueTK) August 10, 2019
ALL kids suffer when their parents break the law…. why the selective outrage in this case?
BTW, these kids look clean, dry and well fed…they look comparatively safe compared to many American kids.
— Wombats of the World Unite (@thewetwombat) August 10, 2019
Yes, pity that those children couldn’t choose to have parents that would make better choices that eventually affect their kids. Just like parents in jail…bad choices that affect more than yourself.
— Calybo – Scheer 2019 (@calybo62) August 10, 2019
Gosh what irresponsible parents! It’s a shame that parents would make decisions to openly violate laws knowing their kids would be at risk. Hopefully hereforth their parents will follow laws. Same as others who violate laws. It can impact the kids
— Illinois is broke and corrupt (@IsIllinois) August 9, 2019
I feel bad for Angel families. I feel bad for American citizens who pay for them with their taxes. I’m disgusted that their own parents put them in this position. I’m disgusted that you exploited this.
— AZmom (@micomazuma) August 10, 2019
I feel grateful to have a President who is working so hard to fix the crisis at the border that has been ignored by Democrats for years! If only the Democrats in Congress would support his efforts to fix the mess they created!!
— Beach Please (@Karenel75) August 10, 2019
I feel that their parents should not have broken the law. Dear Obama voter, what did you feel when this same scene played out the last eight years?
— Chris Logel (@ChrisLogel4) August 10, 2019
I feel sad that their parents violated the law and put them and their children in this position.
— Steve Madurski #PatHead (@SMadurski) August 10, 2019
I ain’t a Trump voter, but there are too many immigrants coming in at once for them all to be given 5-star accommodations. At least she’s being FED for goodness sake. Obama had kids in the exact same conditions, and no one batted an eye. Please stop fear mongering.
— ??Ꭻ. ᎪᏞᎬX☧ (@Astro_Catholic) August 9, 2019
We need to better accommodate these kids. We really do. But we have to remember that most of these kids don’t want to be here. They were dragged here by adults that aren’t even their parents. People take a snapshot of the overpopulation at the border that we can’t do anything —
— ??Ꭻ. ᎪᏞᎬX☧ (@Astro_Catholic) August 9, 2019
— about at the moment and call it “concentration camps”. I’m sure that little girl isn’t upset that she’s having a pizza and a soda. I’m sure she’s missing her parents, but her parents aren’t the coyotes that were separated from her at the border. This is all heartbreaking, and —
— ??Ꭻ. ᎪᏞᎬX☧ (@Astro_Catholic) August 9, 2019
— we need change. But open borders won’t make that change. Completely new immigration laws that maintain our borders will. Tear everything down, start from square one. We have new needs in this new day and age that old laws can’t handle.
— ??Ꭻ. ᎪᏞᎬX☧ (@Astro_Catholic) August 9, 2019
Now do Obama….
— Liz (@LizRice27) August 10, 2019
Feel betrayed by the media. All the children were reunited within 24 hours and under care.
— Oh Susie Cue (@OhSusieCue) August 10, 2019
Yeah, but the media sure did use that 24 hours to exploit these kids.
