Trish Regan, host of “Trish Regan Primetime” on Fox Business, seems to have come up with a sort of compromise position between those demanding a ban and mandatory government buy-back of “assault weapons” and those who claim the Second Amendment is their license to own one … or several.
Seeing as you can’t use “assault weapons” (is it OK if we assume she’s talking about the AR-15?) for home defense or hunting, only sport and mass shootings, why not ban them from everywhere except the gun range?
We need to ban assault weapons — except at shooting ranges.. There is no place for them in today’s society. Period. If it’s a sport — go practice at the range. No need to keep them around the house.
— Trish Regan (@trish_regan) August 7, 2019
If there is no place for them in today’s society, then it would follow that they don’t belong at the gun range, either. And is it OK to keep a semi-automatic pistol around the house for self-defense?
Let's ban privately-owned books (First Amendment protected). If it's a hobby, you can do it at the library. https://t.co/qMEqaaGpUA

We need to ban tv hosts from having their own opinions. There's no place for their uneducated opinions in today's society. Period. If you're a tv host, your opinions are provided for you by your tv station. No need to have your own opinions.

What gives you the right to tell me what I need in my house? You are becoming part of the problem.

No need for you to tell us what we need. We have rights.
— C (@SportyGirlC) August 7, 2019
That's insane. Don't tell me what I can and cannot have at my home to protect my family.
— Chris Michael (@competition95) August 7, 2019
No thanks . I support your right to not own one or keep yours locked up at your local range though
— 5AndDime (@5AndDime1) August 7, 2019
Make no mistake, a disarmed citizenry invites government tyranny, and oppression. Thus, any further regulation of gun ownership, including semi-automatic rifles, such as the AR-15 and others, cannot intrude upon the rights of law-abiding American citizens ~
— Allen Sutton (@StewardshipAmer) August 7, 2019
Under no circumstances will we relinquish our rights under the 2nd Amendment. An armed citizenry, with semi-automatic rifles, including the AR-15 and others, is the ultimate guarantor of your freedom from tyranny and oppression in this world ~
— Allen Sutton (@StewardshipAmer) August 7, 2019
The purpose of the 2nd Amendment is NOT to guarantee guns for sport. The 2nd Amendment is a protection against tyrannical government – the type of government that turns the power of government against fellow citizens. Obama engaged in a great abuse of power against Americans.
— Georgette O (@Orwell_2012) August 7, 2019
And even leaving Barack Obama out of it, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell just had a mob on his front lawn, with one thug caught on video hoping someone “just stabs the mother f**ker in the heart,” and Joaquin Castro is posting the names and workplaces of people who’ve donated to Trump … not that he included a “call to action” or anything, so he’s not culpable is some unhinged follower harasses (or worse) the people he’d named and shamed for supporting white supremacy.
Umm, we do take them to the range. From home. No idea where you’re going with this.
— Sol Roth (@RedeyesXBL) August 7, 2019
She's trying to qualify it by saying "if it's a sport" but she knows damn well it's not just a sport.

Rich media types, protected from any of the dangers reals Americans face because of open borders and visa lotteries reveal unimaginable hubris telling us we don't have a right to defend ourselves against the monsters we are importing & the ones we are creating in our schools.

Unbelievable. I would have expected better of Ms Regan.
— SharpestJim™ (@SharpestJim) August 7, 2019
How can you sit there on your throne and tell me as a law abiding gun owner what I can and can't keep in my house???
.@trish_regan you've gone too far this time!!!#2A Got it!!!
— MikeG_USAF???? (@Mike_Goodlander) August 7, 2019
Why would we ban any weapons?
The bad guys have AKs.
In order to protect yourself and your family, you should want to own the most powerful weapon. Right?
Returning AK fire with a .22 seems silly. No?
The fact this important point is missed by so many is quite startling.

Semi-automatic rifles, including the AR-15, are excellent for home defense, as demonstrated in this incident ~https://t.co/02JfO2BWHO

What is an assault weapon? I have no definition of such. Being honest.
— Kambree Kawahine Koa (@KamVTV) August 7, 2019
Hello Trish, huge fan. But here's a question, can you define 'assault weapons' ?
— ?Warren? (@warrenga61) August 7, 2019
Trish, with all due respect…
Using the term "assault weapons" for the civilian platform of modern sporting rifles is a political term given to vilify the platform and plays to the anti-gun narrative.— Riccers (@JustCawz1012) August 7, 2019
Please stop using terms that have no meaning. Define “assault weapons”. I carried a K-Bar in Vietnam so is that an assault weapon. I was prepared to assault someone with it.
— Randy White (@rwphototoday) August 7, 2019
Would an "assault" weapon if used in defense no longer be an "assault" weapon? Serious question because no one seems to be able to define what assault weapon refers to.
— steve ficyk (@SteveFicyk) August 7, 2019
If you can clearly define what an "assault weapon" is, we can start a conversation.
The thing is you can't.
By the common definition, an "assault weapon" can even include common pistols and even revolvers.
Sorry, you need to rethink your use of the term…

A skilled marksperson with this perfectly-legal (except in CA) Springfield 9mm handgun with 19-round magazine (plus one in the chamber) could have inflicted the SAME damage in a crowded store. So much for that argument. #ElPaso #AssaultWeaponsBan #2A pic.twitter.com/K8jEJkJXun

Wrong Trish.
"We must reject the idea that every time a law's broken, society is guilty, rather than the lawbreaker. It is time to restore the American precept that each individual is responsible for his (or her) own actions."
