So J.J. Abrams, Jordan Peele are NOT boycotting Georgia over heartbeat bill?

Hold up now … Hollywood has been threatening to boycott Georgia and pull all of its TV and movie productions out of the state over the heartbeat bill, which would ban abortions after six weeks — Alyssa Milano, Tom Arnold, and around 80 other entertainment industry types all co-signed a letter saying they couldn’t in good conscience “recommend” keeping their productions in Georgia.

Gov. Brian Kemp signed the heartbeat bill into law this week, so now it’s time to see just how many productions pull up stakes and find somewhere else to shoot.

Alternative headline: J.J. Abrams, Jordan Peele to Keep Shooting in Georgia Despite Entertainment Industry Boycott.

Oh, we get it … they’re still going to shoot their TV show in Georgia, but they’re going to donate the proceeds to fighting to overturn the bill; well, actually, to Stacey Abrams’ group — she’ll probably consider it presidential campaign cash.

Abrams added that his production company Bad Robot and Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions will donate funds to fight the legislation. “We stand with Stacey Abrams and the hardworking people of Georgia, and will donate 100 percent of our respective episodic fees for this season to two organizations leading the charge against this draconian law: the ACLU of Georgia and Fair Fight Georgia,” he said. “We encourage those who are able to funnel any and all resources to these organizations.”

Um, we thought you were boycotting.

The Hollywood Reporter sure did quote from a lot of statements from production companies, but time will tell who actually leaves the state. The MPAA, for example, says it is “watching the law closely and waiting on final court outcomes.”

So we have a letter from a bunch of actors who weren’t shooting there and the MPAA watching the law “closely.”

Watch it go into effect from your homes in Hollywood. Bye.
