He's helping! Washington Post reporter tells us a lot of Democratic candidates have guns

There are two things we know to be true: Democrats keep reassuring us that no one is trying to take our guns away, and Democrats keep proposing “common sense” gun control legislation that in some measure will take our guns away.

Rep. Eric Swalwell is the only 2020 hopeful to base his candidacy solely on gun control, and he’s the perfect example of what we just said above. “Keep your shotguns, keep your pistols, keep your rifles,” he tweets, adding that he only wants to “take the most dangerous weapons out of the hands of the most dangerous people.”

The “most dangerous” weapons? Do you mean the ones that fire bullets that travel faster? Are we seriously doing this again?

All of which brings us to the Washington Post’s Matt Viser, who seems to want to help cement the narrative that Democrats don’t want to take away our guns because so many of them own guns! Sure, some Democratic politicians saw their rifles in half on video as part of their campaign, but, you know, these 2020 candidates are legitimate gun nuts:

So are we supposed to assume that Beto O’Rourke, Pete Buttigieg, and Tim Ryan are trying to make up for their inadequate manhood? We’ve heard that a lot about conservative gun owners. They’re all just white suburban men with a violent hobby, right?

Harris still reflexively draws her weapon on parents who allow their children to skip school, we hear.

Amy Klobuchar is probably holding out for the binder attachment for her AR-15.

Fair enough … but don’t expect us to cheer when he says “military-style weapons” (like AR-15s) don’t belong in the hands of civilians.

Joe Biden? He practically begged citizens to buy shotguns instead of AR-15s, because if there’s an earthquake and scavenging mobs are coming for your survivalist stash you won’t have to aim as well with the ground shaking. No, he really said that.

And then he told Field and Stream, “Well, you know, my shotgun will do better for you than your AR-15, because you want to keep someone away from your house, just fire the shotgun through the door.

We don’t care that they have guns; we care that we have guns.
