THANK YOU: Salena Zito uses the 'e'-word (extreme) to describe Beto's stance on abortion

Wow, what a day. There’s a movie in theaters (“Unplanned”) showing how the horrors of what Planned Parenthood does turned a former director into a pro-life activist, and a journalist actually dared to call Beto O’Rourke’s position on abortion “extreme.”

You might remember that O’Rourke slyly changed the subject when asked specifically about his stance on third-trimester abortions during one of his famous countertop sermons. Then he was confronted by journalist Salena Zito, who asked him specifically about his stance on third-trimester abortions, and once again he deflected to the worn-out talking point, “I know better than to assume anything about a woman’s decision … when it comes her to reproductive rights.”

So it’s refreshing to read Zito in the Washington Examiner call O’Rourke’s abortion stance “extreme,” a word rarely applied to progressives. They’re just “passionate.”

Exactly. Journalists and pundits would never think to call third-trimester abortions “extreme” because Planned Parenthood has assured them that it’s all a question of women’s reproductive health. What they would consider extreme is Sen. Ben Sasse’s Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act — what kind of nut would introduce legislation like that? And yet there were crickets when Democrats voted en masse against it.

We’ve all seen it: Democrats are leaning more and more leftward and taking more “extreme” positions, like supporting infanticide, entertaining socialist garbage like the Green New Deal, eliminating the private health insurance industry, etc. It would be nice if the news media didn’t keep moving the bar so they always seem like the centrists.
