Are we just too close to what’s going on in the United States to see it as fairly normal compared to whatever the hell is going on in the United Kingdom? A Catholic columnist faces two years in prison for the hate crime of “misgendering” a child on Twitter, and now this.
Several British newspapers are reporting that an Iranian convert to Christianity was denied asylum by the U.K. Home Office because his religion was considered too violent, with the office citing passages from Revelations to prove its point.

The Home Office has refused asylum to a Christian convert by quoting Bible passages which it says prove Christianity is not a peaceful religion.
The Iranian national, who claimed asylum in 2016, was told passages in the Bible were “inconsistent” with his claim to have converted to Christianity after discovering it was a “peaceful” faith.
The refusal letter from the department states the book of Revelations – the final book of the Bible – is “filled with imagery of revenge, destruction, death and violence”, and cites six excerpts from it.
It then states: “These examples are inconsistent with your claim that you converted to Christianity after discovering it is a ‘peaceful’ religion, as opposed to Islam which contains violence, rage and revenge.”
It’s a shame; we’re old enough to remember Great Britain being a respected world power.

Yeah, you have to read this letter from the UK's Home Office (headed by a Muslim) to appreciate (a) just how dumb government bureaucrats really are; and (b) the animus that now exists in the UK government towards Christianity. It's unbelievable. https://t.co/LL4KuoaO8P

This is quite astonishing. A Home Office official decides to reject an asylum application by issuing a theological analysis which argues that Christianity is less peaceful than Islam. Regardless of the validity of the point, this is just surreal.https://t.co/jYvBgVZLZ6

Christians in Muslim majority countries are 143 times more likely to be murdered for their faith than Muslims in Christian majority countries yet Home Office quotes BIBLE verses to reject asylum for Iranian convert facing death for apostasy https://t.co/SKOdmJQYcw

This looks very much as though an individual in the Home Office has taken exception to the Iranian asylum seeker's rationale for converting to Christianity from Islam and abused their power rather than doing their job of considering whether the man was in need of asylum.

I know a gay Iranian who says the (Muslim) Home Office Official in his asylum interview asked him why he wasn’t following the faith and why why he couldn’t hide his “feelings” in Iran.
