There are a whole lot of democratic socialists and other progressives out there who want to abolish ICE. Then there’s Hillary Clinton, Al Gore, and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, all of whom have argued that it’s time for the Electoral College to go. And both Vox and Slate have published arguments in favor of abolishing the Supreme Court.
(Funny how we never heard any of these hot takes until Hillary lost the election.)
But as far as we know, failed Senate candidate Chelsea “It’s Against Twitter’s Terms of Service to Deadname Me” Manning is the first to suggest abolishing the office of president. And you know she’s serious because the tweet was written in English, not emoji.
what if instead of wasting enormous time, energy, and money on getting yet another single person elected president, we worked to eliminate the office of the president altogether

You mean the office that released you from prison?
— That Guy (@AlaskaNorseman) January 2, 2019
You'd still be in prison if it wasn't for that office https://t.co/6OTlKAXFmN

Good point.
The office of the President is not a dick. You can't just cut it off because you suddenly don't like it.

That’s really pushing Twitter’s TOS, but we’ll allow it.
Bad idea…aren't you the person…never mind, waste of energy

I rather a presidential system than a parliamentary one. It’s much more democratic.

Even Ocasio-Cortez knows there are three chambers of government: the president, the House, and the Senate.
1. Checks & Balances won't work without a 3rd party balance. 2. There are already checks in place to keep the President in check, like the 2 term limit, 4 yr re-election. Have faith & patience in things working out, 2 tough years doesn't ruin a country.

Terrible idea. Separation of powers is important. Just need to return the power of decision making to the Congress (that doesn't seem to want it) and leave the president with only the powers required to enact those decisions… as it was intended.

Don’t want a president, move to a country that doesn’t have a president

Dont worry. When someone that you like is elected, this idea will conveniently fade away.

the office of President is a symbol of Patriarchy
