As Twitchy reported the other day, we should all expect plenty of doom-and-gloom headlines about the limited government shutdown, and John Stossel had already had enough:
They call it shutdown, but what's shut? Farm service centers, FHA offices loaning our money, and a other things we won't miss. More should close! Why are 4000 DEA workers working? Most gov't remains open, and the employees will get paid. And how dare they close hiking trails. https://t.co/wkLa6Xzl8S

Most government remains open, but you’d never know it after glancing at the news:
NORAD to continue tracking Santa despite government shutdown https://t.co/AxzzWQY0Cr pic.twitter.com/HoCykM2cmX
— The Hill (@thehill) December 24, 2018
That tweet would have you believe that NORAD’s Santa tracking was on the chopping block, but The Hill’s own article reports that 1) volunteers run the program, and 2) the Department of Defense has a full year of funding and will not stop operating.
In the event of a government shutdown, NORAD will continue with its 63-year tradition of NORAD Tracks Santa on Dec. 24. Military personnel who conduct NORAD Tracks Santa are supported by approximately 1,500 volunteers who make the program possible each and every year. pic.twitter.com/fY0oyjrdDc

So, if the government can shut down and still track Santa Claus … maybe it’s not Armageddon?
It's a volunteer program. Additionally, @DeptofDefense already fully funded.

The Hill still running this.
They know the defense appropriations bill passed in September.
They know the Pentagon is funded for 2019 and is exempt from the shutdown.
But, y'know… click click click click pic.twitter.com/jkKhZgbKfq

If only the military is funded, they will have to do the job of the rest of the federal government. You know, like arrest the bad guys, throw them in GITMO, prosecute, et al.
It's the only way.

And track Santa. Or, you could let Google do it, since they’re tracking everybody already anyway:

CNN has a similar story entitled "No government shutdown can keep NORAD from tracking Santa's journey on Christmas Eve" without mentioning that NORAD isn't shut down because the DOD is funded. https://t.co/NuCHTPwHqS

Good thing Obama isn’t president. He’d shut it down to punish kids like he did with the National Parks Service.
— Drago (@rudeboyardee) December 24, 2018
If Obama were still president he'd have you raided. https://t.co/9W7btye4in

Say what you will about President Trump, but Barack Obama seemed a whole lot more into his government shutdown — those Barry-cades around open-air war memorials went up really quickly.
If even NORAD’s Santa Claus tracker has you making snarky tweets about Trump, you might have TDS:
NORAD has tracked Santa delivering unknown items to a country that falls under Trump's travel ban. Will he be subject to extreme vetting before he's allowed into the US? pic.twitter.com/0WDWYookPc
