The Wall Street Journal’s Kimberley Strassel noted Friday that the big news of the Michael Cohen memo was that there was contact with Russia as back as 2015. But was it a conspiracy to defraud the U.S. government by influencing the election? That depends on whom you ask.
Press reduced to now claiming "big" news of Cohen memo is that there was Russia contact all the way back in 2015!!! (While failing to note that even Special Counsel admits Cohen "did not follow up on this invitation.")
— Kimberley Strassel (@KimStrassel) December 7, 2018
…because he had another contact with ties to the Russian government. Read the footnotes
— Julia Macfarlane (@juliamacfarlane) December 8, 2018
Now we’re conflating contact with collusion with conspiracy.
The desperation among these thirsty media-types to make “collusion” happen is palpable. It’s frightening how the Trump era has sidelined journalism in favor of activism. https://t.co/tdofGDGf1F

ABC reporter Julia Macfarlane urges doubters like Dan Bongino to read the filings:
I encourage you to *read the filings*
If Cohen did meet with a Russian contact to support the campaign, and if assistance was provided, that is:
Conspiracy to defraud the United States – by impeding the running of free and fair elections.
“Collusion” is shorthand for this.
— Julia Macfarlane (@juliamacfarlane) December 8, 2018
It’s funny: in his testimony Friday, former FBI director James Comey admitted that not even he knew the difference between conspiracy and collusion because he’d never heard the word collusion used in his time at the DOJ. But now we know that collusion is shorthand for conspiracy to defraud the U.S.

You’ve got some big “if’s” in your tweet!
— Keith Setliff (@KeithSetliff) December 8, 2018
Key word in this entire tweet “IF”
— Deplorable Spartacus (@LacysLoveCavemn) December 8, 2018
IF is a huge word. Journalists shouldn’t use it. They should only state facts, not IF’S.
— Liz (@lizmilfordct) December 8, 2018
A lot of IFs lady. What a joke.
— Shari Odell (@ShariOdell) December 8, 2018
And “if” … and “if” … and “if” – stop already. IF you just stuck to the FACTS you might gain some credibility.

If you did murder your neighbor that would be a crime. I think we should start prosecution now. Just in case.
— tom davis ?? (@tomarama) December 8, 2018
Are you really, REALLY this stupid? There's nothing about "assistance" to the campaign. Whole cloth by you. Typical liberal. Make up unproven hypothetical and run off on it.https://t.co/eVDrstEjJk
— Green Green Peppers (@wcpeper) December 8, 2018
You got alot of IF'S in there. What about this IF IT DID NOT HAPPEN THEN HE IS INNOCENT. https://t.co/9NQakmzjhe
— TexanAmerican (@Texan4American) December 8, 2018
Jesus. You’re a joke. You’re leaving out the part about how Cohen didn’t go with the deal. Typical lying journalism does nothing but divide people.
— Absolute Minima (@MuellerAntifa) December 8, 2018
We all know Hillary paid a British national to change the election. No ‘If’ in that statement. Finally we have agreement on collusion. https://t.co/6egOgnIDf8

ABC reporter shows just how bad media understanding of law is. There is no crime for “conspiracy to defraud” by meeting with people of a different citizenship during an election. https://t.co/2sBnEZQPmP

You still here… and still reading between the lines? The memo clearly states there were no further meetings… and Cohen didn't respond… but keep pushing your theories.

You would think that ABC legal advisors would have pointed that out to them before they go out and make fools of themselves.
— MakeAmericaGreat2020 (@MGreat2020) December 9, 2018
That is not a crime. How many people have ever been convicted of “conspiracy to defraud”? Likewise, it is not illegal to have contact with any foreign national during election cycles.

This is what passes for “journalism.” Irresponsible and ignorant hypothesizing about what they HOPE to be true. It’s horrifying. These people are laughingstocks. Journalism is dead. https://t.co/5ckRqUpynh
