Here’s something fun if you have literally nothing else to do and are unfamiliar with the definition of fun. The BBC’s #100Women site has come up with an interactive doodad allowing women to drag objects of oppression (high heels, lipstick, bras) into a virtual garbage can. Cute.

But enjoying the fact you got a top notch graphics team to create a gif dedicated to missing the point.
— Helen Barnard (@Helen_Barnard) December 3, 2018
The whole exercise is supposed to be a throwback to ’60s feminist protests, and the BBC is asking women what object of oppression they’d like to chuck into the garbage. “Religious clothing, gendered baby clothes and wage slips — representing the gender pay gap — have been popular additions,” the BBC reports.
High heels? Make-up? Bras? What would you most like to throw in the #100Women Freedom Trash Can?

Tell us what’s holding women back? Well …
This tweet, first up.

Patronising tweets from National tv channels…..That's what is holding me back.
Seriously BBC— Name cannot be blank (@NicoM9999) December 3, 2018
It isn't my lipstick, bra or high heels – all of which I enthusiastically adopt as part of my female culture. What I find tends to hold me back is the murderous rage which envelopes me when faced with tweets like this.
— Just Counsel (@JustCounsel) December 3, 2018
People like whoever thought this tweet is a good idea are high up on the list.
— Dina Elsayed (@Sonadina) December 3, 2018
What an awful tweet, how out of touch is this?
— Brett Sentance (@realteaplease) December 3, 2018
About as out of touch as 3rd wave feminism?
— James Whittingham (@TheW1t) December 3, 2018
What a ridiculous and patronising tweet.
— veebs (@veebsveebs) December 3, 2018
What’s holding women back? Surveys like this to start.

Articles like this one.

Pretty sure it's the reduction of women to make-up, clothing and domestic chores.
— Debbie ? (@weefz) December 3, 2018
It is the year of our lord 2018 and the Beeb still thinks burning bras is a core feminist issue.
— Hannah Shaw-Williams (@HSW3K) December 3, 2018
Is this for real? Sigh.
— Caroline Bray (@carolinejbray) December 3, 2018
Are you trolling? Also, while I'm not personally fussed about lippy and heels, all ditching a bra would do is make it more painful to cycle or run for a bus, which doesn't strike me as advancing feminism by much…

One thing holding women back might be the idea, promoted by this tweet, that they have to be less themselves, less feminine, to gain equality with men.
— Claire Senner (@claire_senner) December 4, 2018
What's holding women back? Politicians and media outlets attempting to pander to women by claiming they're being held back by something other than their belief in the people telling them they're being held back is what's holding them back. https://t.co/brV3tCvr2R

Welcome to the perpetual victim narrative, be sure to make up one opression and pretend its real, your random color hair dye, club card and cat will arrive in 2-5 buisness days.
— savagepatty (@spartin01919) December 4, 2018
Silly posts like this hold women back. It’s 2018, not 1968. Women are free to dress as they like. Also, many women would feel far more oppressed by ?than?.
— Christina Sommers (@CHSommers) December 3, 2018
I'd like to throw out feminists who think gender, not merit, is a reason for advancement. I'd like to throw out people who focus on heals, bras, and lipstick too. Thanks. @100Women freedom trash can.

Intersectional feminism.

I want to throw 3rd wave "feminism" in the trash, set it on fire, and dance around it while wearing makeup, a bra, and heels.
— OhioWxGirl (@OhioWxGirl) December 3, 2018
For some women, make-up, high heels and bras ARE freedom. A woman being able to wear what she wants is not what's holding us back. This tweet is appalling
— Hilary Davidson (@FourRedShoes) December 3, 2018
why do leftists hate beauty and femininity so much?
